About the Item

Designers Carlo Hauner (1927-1997) and Martin Eisler (1913-1977) were the founders of the influential Brazilian furniture company Forma, established in 1953. Focused on industrial processes, their work is characterised by the use of Brazilian woods, thin tubular frames, and a wide-range offering from furniture to textiles and ceramics. Hauner and Eisler greatly contributed to the rise of Brazilian modernism with their innovative modes of production. This pair of side tables presents a clean design with a modern combination of materials. This pair of side tables by Carlo Hauner and Martin Eisler, created in the 1950s, showcases the designers' elegant balance between structural lightness and material richness. Each table measures 40 x 65 x 65 cm and features a square wooden top with a deep, rich tone and visible grain, similar to a tropical hardwood common in Brazilian modernist furniture. The tops rest lightly on minimalist, lacquered metal frames with slender legs that taper slightly outward. A signature element of Hauner and Eisler's style is visible in the curved, horizontal brace beneath each tabletop—an understated yet expressive structural gesture that enhances both stability and visual rhythm.
