Brazilian Modern Armchair Set in Velvet, Hardwood & Metal by Carlo Hauner, 1950s
By Carlo Hauner
Located in New York, NY
Available now, this Mid-Century Modern armchair set in velvet, Hardwood & Steel designed by Carlo Hauner in the fifties is perfect! Size: H27.6, W27.6, D35.4 (in) H70, W70, D90 (cm) This gorgeous set features a steel structure painted in black and a seat & body backrest in new gray velvet upholstery with three buttons and delicate Brazilian Rosewood (known as Jacaranda) arms. The restoration of the set took a few months because when I bought it the armchairs didn't have the Jacaranda arms, and every collector knows that the value of a piece is on the integrity of the piece, meaning original pieces and method. Finding Hauner’s wood arms took me to many antique markets until two months after I found the wood arms in a shop specialized in vintage furniture in Rio de Janeiro’s city center. Now the piece is complete! These armchairs are so awesome that we’ve paired them in the gallery with other pieces and are always spectacular. The first furniture set showcases the armchairs with Scapinelli’s famous Acqua coffee table and Jorge Zalszupin Pullman sofa. The second image has the set next to Celina Decoracoes four seat sofa and a delicate Scapinelli coffee table. The third image has one armchair next to Sergio Rodrigues’s Sabara Rosewood trunk...

Carlo Hauner, Sofa, 1950s, Wood and Green Cotton Velvet
By Carlo Hauner
Located in PARIS, FR
This three-seater sofa entirely covered in green cotton velvet is the synthesis of the Brazilian modern spirit. Its slightly curved backrest gives sensuality to the piece in composition with sinuously cut armrests. This creates a geometry between form and counterform that an appropriate rhythm brings to the Carlo Hauner signature. The legs are conical (in pe palito) characteristic of the 1950s. The whole thing leads to a sofa where ergonomics and aesthetics are perfectly tuned. Carlo Hauner & Martin Eisler SHARE Carlo Hauner (1927-1996) arrived in Brazil in 1948. He encountered the Brazilian modernist context of the mid-twentieth century, full of optimism due to the economic and social progress linked to the end of the Second World War. Of Italian origin, he settled in the cosmopolitan city of São Paulo and immediately founded the company "Moveis Artesanal" in 1950, in order to produce modern furniture and meet the demand of architects such as Lina Bo Bardi and Gregori Warchavchik...

Carlo Hauner, Armchair, 1950's, Caviuna Wood and Blue Cotton
By Carlo Hauner
Located in PARIS, FR
A typical piece of Carlo Hauner's design from the 1950s, this armchair rests on four conical legs, known in Brazilian as "Pè palito". The wide, curved backrest gives it depth while the seat that rises up over the armrests provides comfort and cocoon-like appeal. Covered in a soft blue denim cotton, the color contrasts nicely with the caviuna wood of the legs, the two of it located at the back offer a very sharp angle giving dynamism and balance to the whole. Carlo Hauner (1927-1996) arrived in Brazil in 1948. He encountered the Brazilian modernist context of the mid-twentieth century, full of optimism due to the economic and social progress linked to the end of the Second World War.
