Low brass coffee table model "Leda" by Salvador Dalí 20th century spanish design
By Salvador Dalí, BD Barcelona Design
Located in Barcelona, ES
Coffee table Spain, 1935/37 DIMENSIONS: Table: 1900x451xh.420mm; Table with egg: 1900x451xh.610mm Legs in a cast varnish brass. Table top in brushed and varnished brass. Carrara marble egg on top. Taken from “Femme à tête de roses" (1935)” 1935 (Woman with a head of roses). It was sufficient for this sculpture to be made as a three dimensional piece, remaining faithful to every detail in Dalí’s painting. During the 1930s in Paris, Salvador Dalí surrounded himself with a circle of friends involved in the application of art to varied disciplines, above and beyond the study of pure pictorial art. Jean-Michel Frank, a furniture maker and decorator of recognized prestige in the Paris of those years, was on very good terms with Dalí and together they worked on several ideas. The Bracelli lamp which we present here is a classic design after Jean-Michel’s manner of designing and working, adopted by Dalí for his house at Portlligat. Amongst Dalí ’s specific furnishing projects, and constituting another for his curriculum vitae as a designer, may be counted the garden furnishings for his Portlligat house, the complete architecture of the Night Club (garotte-shaped) for the Hotel Presidente in Acapulco (1957) and another project for a bar in California in the ‘forties. As shown by the small selection now produced and included in this catalogue, Dalí ’s work was not restricted to the traditional furnishing elements, but included tap fittings, handles, door-pulls, printed fabrics and objets of indeterminate use. In the 1990s a group of experts, led by Oscar Tusquets, set themselves the task of turning the furniture Dalí had drawn for Jean-Michel Frank into reality. Amongst these items were the Leda chair...

Mario Bellini Cab Tab Dining Table For Cassina
By Mario Bellini
Located in Barcelona, Barcelona
Mario Bellini Cab Tab Table For Cassina The design approach that in 1977 led Mario Bellini and Cassina to clad the structure of a chair in saddle leather – in the manner of a bespoke suit, breathing life into the iconic Cab – prompted the great architect and the Meda-based company to extend the same aesthetic language to the creation of an elegant, sophisticated table. Cab Tab highlights the expertise of the company’s artisans in the lengthy, intricate processing of saddle leather. The various parts, cut with a CNC machine and then worked by hand, are sewn to create a piece of upholstery that is masterfully hand-moulded to the metal skeleton of the table. The table is embellished with saddlery top-stitching visible in the junctures between the parts. The upholstery is closed with zippers along the inside of each leg, like a custom-made suit STRUCTURE Saddle leather in natural shades – a selection of reds, blacks and browns, green and blue. TOP Polished or matte marble, or wood. Carlina Low Table by Oscar Tusquets
Located in Geneve, CH
Carlina Low Table by Oscar Tusquets Dimensions: D 72 x W 130 x H 42 cm. Materials: Solid ash timber and tempered smoked glass. Solid ash timber structure, stained black. 1 cm Thick tempered smoked glass top. Gaulino Family Distinctive elements of the Gaulino chair run through this set of tables, combining clean, industrial processes with elegant, artisanal materials. Oscar Tusquets describes himself as an architect by training, a designer by adaptation, a painter by vocation, and a writer through the desire to make friends. Graduating from Barcelona’s Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura in 1965, Tusquets became a member of Studi Per. Together, they founded BD in 1972, and he set about designing furniture and objects, soon recognised by the Spanish National Design Award. The Gaulino Family was born in 1987, the first member of which was a chair, with a commission from an industry specialising in the production of baby cribs. This was Tusquets’ first chair in wood, and is a comfortable, beautiful solution that respects the nobility of the material. On completing production, he named the chair after the two men who inspired it: Antoni Gaudí and Carlo Mollino. The Gualino come to be an icon of Spanish design, now accompanied by a family of tables in a number of sizes and finishes. BD Barcelona In 1972, a group of young architects and designers from Barcelona started BD. Our aim was to produce and market furniture...

Asian Inspired Sengu Dining Coffee Table by Patricia Urquiola for Cassina
By Cassina, Patricia Urquiola
Located in Barcelona, Barcelona
Sengu Coffee Table designed by Patricia Urquiola. Manufactured by Cassina (Italy). AN ASIAN INVITATION Asian-inspired, this design coffee table by Patricia Urquiola is a domestic architecture enhanced by the layering of different materials. The system of primary and secondary oval beams that supports the top of this table, ideal for a modern living room, draws upon the ritual reconstruction of Japanese shrines to define an elegant piece of furniture with Far-Eastern fascination. Supported by a solid wood base, the rectangular or round top is available in extra-clear glass, smoked glass or marble. BASE In solid wood: Canaletto walnut, natural oak or oak stained black. TOP Transparent extra-clear or smoked glass, or marble: white Carrara, Grigio Carnico, Verde Alpi, Rosso Levanto, Calacatta Gold, or Nero Marquina, with matt finish. Inspired by Asian influences ‒ a theme that often recurs in the Cassina collections ‒ and especially by the ritual reconstruction of Japanese shrines through the use of different materials, like the other pieces in the Sengu family, the Sengu Coffee Table, designed by Patricia Urquiola, is envisioned as an exquisitely layered and sophisticated home architecture. The base, crafted with a grid of primary and secondary oval solid wood beams, echoes the shapes found in the Sengu Sofa...
