Paseo & Arrastro, from Service Scènes de Corrida (Set of 2), A.R.416 & A.R.423
By Pablo Picasso
Located in Palo Alto, CA
Created in 1959, Pablo Picasso (Málaga, 1881 – Mougins, 1973) Paseo A.R. 416 and Arrastro A.R. 423 are numbered from the edition of 50 on the reverse and stamped with the 'MADOURA PLEIN FEU' and ‘EMPREINTE ORIGINALE DE PICASSO' pottery stamps on the reverse. Pablo Picasso was an avid fan of bullfighting his entire life, attending his first corridas when he was a child in Spain and gaining a renewed interest in the events when he settled in the South of France after World War II. Undoubtedly the theatrical drama and flashy machismo of the matadors appealed greatly to Picasso's sensibilities and resonated with his Spanish roots. In 1959, Picasso produced an 8-piece plate series, each featuring a different bullfighting scene suggested through lively stipple lines. Paseo A.R. 416 depicts a line of bullfighters highlighted by a streak of yellow. The strokes of blue above and below the figures contrast with the warm of the yellow, creating visual tension that anticipates the drama of the fight. Arrastro, from Service Scènes de Corrida, 1959 A.R. 423 features a victorious  bullfighter holding his curved sword, known as an estqoue, over his head. The dark atmosphere created by the deep blue, black, and touch of brown is slashed by the intense yellow down the center of the plate. This shock of bright color evokes the excitement of the bullfighter as he stands triumphant over the bull. Catalogue Raisonné & COA: Pablo Picasso Paseo...

Silver Mini Corkscrew #33
By David Tanych
Located in Napa, CA
Patinaed Steel with Redwood Handle David Tanych has been building objects since his father gave him a saw, hammer, nails and a block of wood at the age of 10. A veteran home and furniture builder, David turned his interest in design and fabrication from the functional and practical to the imaginative and artistic. Interested in welding and the properties of metal, David attended two summer sessions in blacksmithing at the Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina, where he began to connect to a medium much different than wood. Intrigued and inspired by the strength and flexibility of steel, Tanych started using it to construct functional objects such as tables, picture frames, and garden pergolas. As his skill progressed, Tanych began building huge outdoor steel sculptures. Likened to the work of veteran sculptor Claes Oldenburg, Tanych's most recent pieces are big and bold, representing everyday objects such as a skeleton key and matching keyhole, and a set of three jacks and a ball. The results are fun and playful, instantly bringing the viewer back to a time when these items were common place. When complete, the sculptures are acid etched, allowing them to rust naturally and adding a textural dimension to their unique charm. Tanych’s work alters the environment in which they are placed, in a way that could not be otherwise realized. Tanych’s works have been featured in many publications including Architectural Digest, Dwell Magazine, Forbes Life, the Time Square kiosk. His work can also be viewed in numerous public and private collections including Leisureland; Palm Springs Sculpture...

"Tenitic Necklace Long " a contemporary, fine gauge stainless steel necklace
Located in Morgan Hill, CA
Crafted by the brilliant mind of Taos, New Mexico based jeweler, Julie Lake. This layered hexagonal necklace looks both modern and delicate. Made from incredibly strong spring tempered and fuse welded stainless steel. Ultra reflective surface interacts with the light as the body moves. This piece is hypoallergenic and non-tarnishing making it the perfect necklace for everyone. Bio Julie Lake hand fabricates her metal work exclusively from a spring tempered, fine gauge stainless steel. She uses an arc welding process at precise settings to join the metal by melting and fusing it together at the tiny joints. The nature of this stainless steel, along with the welding process, allows Lake to create complex and visually fragile, yet deceptively strong forms with very small diameter wires. Although the welding of steel is typically regarded as an industrial process, Lake likens her technique to the domestic act of sewing or knitting. By way of welding, she methodically and repetitively stitches together the threads of stainless steel which accumulate into larger forms. Her decision to only create with this very specific material is quite minimalistic, but Lake engages with the material with multidisciplinary intent. Her work spans from large scale art installation, to design-driven functional items, to wearable and decorative pieces rooted in fine craft. This multidisciplinary approach allows the individual pieces to cross-pollinate with and inform each other. Lake's training as a maker started at a very young age. Her father, Ron Lake, is a machinist who went on to establish a career creating fine folding knives...

"Carved Circle & Square Axis Earrings" ethically sourced rose gold, contemporary
Located in Morgan Hill, CA
Forged by Providence, Rhode Island based Jewelry Artist, Heather Guidero, this bold pair of earrings feature a circle and a square made from Rose Gold with a push back post. The graphic lines, textures, and patterns of her work are inspired by elements of modernist design, fashion, and urban architecture. Innately wearable, Heather’s collection boldly accentuates your personal style, her considerations of natural movement enabling the jewelry to come alive when worn. About Heather Guidero Having grown up under the open skies of rural Indiana, surrounded by animals and agriculture, Heather Guidero early on discovered a love for drawing everything in sight. A community arts center class led to her surprising fascination with jewelry and two decades later, she is as enamored with the metalsmithing process as ever. It shows in her masterfully handcrafted collection of contemporary fine jewelry. Formally trained at RISD, Heather worked as a goldsmith for renowned jewelry company Reinstein/Ross in New York before returning to Providence, Rhode Island to launch her namesake collection in 2005. Her interest in using line to render drawings three-dimensionally results in unique explorations of volume, movement, and pattern that transform into personal and interactive sculpture on the body. “Settling in at my bench and picking up my favorite antique files is as natural and reflexive as breathing. There's something comforting about the feel of my favorite tools in hand and being able to turn a sheet of metal or length of wire into a piece of jewelry that will be treasured and worn on a regular basis.” The graphic lines, textures, and patterns of her work are inspired by elements of modernist design, fashion, and urban architecture translated into ethically-sourced gold and silver. Select pieces are accented by brilliant diamonds or colorful gemstones. Innately wearable, Heather’s collection boldly accentuates your personal style, her considerations of natural movement enabling the jewelry to come alive when worn. Her work has been featured at prominent museums and galleries across the country including the Museum of Art and Design (NYC), DeNovo (Palo Alto, CA), and Jewelerswerk (Washington DC). She also regularly presents new work at wholesale shows such as the American Craft Council Wholesale Show and the Buyers Market of American Craft. Every piece in Heather’s collection is constructed and finished by hand in her Providence studio. In balance with her studio practice, Heather teaches jewelry classes around Providence, where she helps teens and young adults learn new metalsmithing skills. She counteracts long hours at the jewelry bench...

"Ventalglio Necklace " a contemporary, fine gauge stainless steel necklace
Located in Morgan Hill, CA
Crafted by the brilliant mind of New Mexico based jeweler, Julie Lake. The Ventaglio Necklace is a visually delicate, yet deceptively strong, complex architectural necklace. Featuring layers of interwoven three-dimensional geometric links, created from highly polished stainless steel wire. This piece is best worn against bare skin or dark-colored clothing, which allows the piece to create contrast with the high polish and displays the intricacy of the design. Hook can clasp onto any of the end links, allowing adjustment from 19.5"–22"L. Bio Julie Lake hand fabricates her metal work exclusively from a spring tempered, fine gauge stainless steel. She uses an arc welding process at precise settings to join the metal by melting and fusing it together at the tiny joints. "Specimina Earrings " a contemporary, fine gauge stainless steel earrings
Located in Morgan Hill, CA
Crafted by the brilliant mind of Taos, New Mexico based Jeweler/ Metal Smith, Julie Lake. The Specimina Earrings are a stunning pair of contemporary, geometric and botanically inspired jewelry. Featuring sleek lines with a geometric pod-like shape at the bottom of the earrings fixed with botanical gold beads inside the cage. These earrings are fit with highly polished stainless steel wire ear post. Bio Julie Lake hand fabricates her metal work exclusively from a spring tempered, fine gauge stainless steel. She uses an arc welding process at precise settings to join the metal by melting and fusing it together at the tiny joints.
