This exceptional, c. 1950s illusion dress has a sexy nude illusion on the bodice. It's constructed from 2 layers of fabric. The sheer, darker flesh colored outer layer is backed by a pale flesh color that's somewhat more opaque. The effect is like wearing stockings or nylons on lighter colored naked skin. Overlaying that is a fabulous swirling appliqué that covers just enough. It's extravagant curls continue around the sides to end in a flourish at the lower back. The fabric is a dark navy blue covered with navy beads that have an iridescent finish. The fitted skirt also has a 2 layer construction. The navy blue gauze (feels like silk) is lined with a somewhat brighter blue opaque fabric (feels like acetate, or similar).
