The subjects for his striking and captivating visuals are typically set in the most ordinary environments, drawing the viewer into a charged but serene experience based on composition, palette and formal lines. Saturated in color, the nominal subjects gather a haunting and mesmerizing quality, creating a poignant pretext for the making of a formal color photograph. Decisively capturing the traces left by humanity, Pawassar's images are filled with a sense of universal nostalgia and pay homage to the passage of time and the extinguished moment, referencing documentary and street photographers like Henri Cartier-Bresson, Sebastian Salgado, Raghubir Singh...

Clam Shells (Still Life Photograph of Purple & White Shells with Drift Wood)
By David Halliday
Located in Hudson, NY
Still life photograph of purple and white clam shells on pale grey and beige background archival pigment print, made in 2007 by David Halliday 10 X 15 inches unframed Edition of 25 In this series, Halliday captures the beauty of 'the ordinary' in still lifes of various objects and vegetation arranged against simple backgrounds. This nautical themed still life of deep purple and white clam shells beside a piece of drift wood is set on a light grey table top against a cream colored wood wall. The subtle color palette extenuates the various textures and gentle shadows cast on the objects. About the artist: American, b. 1958, Glen Cove, NY, United States, based in Schodack Landing, NY, United States Elegant still lifes bathed in natural light, so masterfully composed one could forget that it is, in fact, a photograph – this is how we’ve come to recognize David Halliday’s work. The artist first gained recognition for his sepia toned silver gelatin prints of common place objects and food staples, emphasized by sublime balances of form, texture, and shadow one could liken to classical painting. In more recent years the artist began embracing his subject matter with modern pops of color in surreal arrangements; vegetables and fruits eccentrically coupled with fish nets and cutlery balanced on undefined tabletops, seeming to float in midair. Now the photographer is retracting his lens to encompass the studio itself as his subject. In a self-portrait of sorts, Halliday skillfully combines elements of his craft in a modest interior view. Halliday was one of the first artists Carrie Haddad began representing when she opened the gallery 27 years ago. Since then he has exhibited nationally and in Europe. He now lives and works in Schodack Landing by way of New Orleans and Nantucket. Jelly Fish from the movie Stay based on a Polaroid
By Stefanie Schneider
Located in Morongo Valley, CA
Stefanie created the art for both main actors Naomi Watts and Ryan Gosling in the movie 'Stay' directed by Marc Forster. She also created the art for several dream sequences and the end credit sequence for the movie. Jelly Fish (Stay) - 2006 128x125cm, Edition of 5 plus 2 Artist Proofs. Analog C-Print, hand-printed by the artist on Fuji Crystal Archive Paper, based on the Polaroid. Signature label and certificate. Artist Inventory Number 5492. Not mounted. ------------------------------------------------ Stefanie Schneider: A German view of the American West The works of Stefanie Schneider evoke Ed Ruscha's obsession with the American experience, the richness of Georgia O'Keefe's deserts and the loneliness of Edward Hopper's haunting paintings. So how exactly did this German photographer become one of the most important artists of the American narrative of the 20th and 21st century? Schneider's ability to control, or at least predict, the outcome of a pack of Polaroid film is a testament to her experience and intuitive understanding of the medium. With years of practice and countless rolls of film, she has honed her skills, shooting from the hip and grounding her decisions in her gut instincts. It's a symbiotic dance, where she juggles the film, the actors, and the set simultaneously. Every aspect of a Stefanie Schneider photo...

Five Fish (Color Food Still Life Photograph of Fish on Tabletop with Mint Green)
By David Halliday
Located in Hudson, NY
Formalist style color still life photograph of five sardine fish on a white marble tabletop with a mint green background "Five Fish", 2007 Archival pigment print, edition of 25 Image size: 11 x 14 inches 17 x 21 inches with light wood frame with non-glare glass and 8-ply white mat Excellent condition, ready to hang as is Halliday captures the beauty of a traditional still life with a contemporary spin. Here 5 fish lay on a table against a light green background. The print is part of an edition of 25, is currently framed in a light wood frame with non-glare glass and an 8-ply white mat. The artist's signature is located on the back and front. About the Artist: David Halliday's photographs are about beauty, pure and simple. His primary subjects are carefully composed still lifes, portraits and landscapes which he shoots in black and white film with only natural light. He is a purist behind the lens, rarely manipulating his negatives in any way, and a master in the darkroom. His work has an ethereal quality that's translated not only through the subject, but also by the warm colors and sepia tones he uses in his printing. More about the work: A master of light, David Halliday produces lush and elegant images that are both classical and modern. Celebrated for his ‘purist’ eye, he poetically captures the nude male body in a selection of sepia-toned prints from 1996. Rarely revealing the model's face, Halliday prefers to focus on the natural drape of limbs, soft folds of flawless skin, and curvature of the spine. Overall, a stunningly intimate portrayal of the male form done with elegance and charm. Resume: Born 1958, Glen Cove, New York Lives in Schodack Landing, NY EDUCATION 1998 Penland School of Crafts, Penland, North Carolina 1988 The Maine Photographic Workshops, Rockport, Maine 1976-79 Syracuse University, New York 1974-76 Wooster School Community Art Center, Danbury, Connecticut SELECTED SOLO EXHIBITIONS 2013 Threadbare/New Photographs, Arthur Roger Galley, New Orleans, LA McMurtrey Gallery, Houston, TX 2012 The Past Still Present, Ogden Museum of Southern Art, New Orleans, LA 2010 Arthur Roger Gallery, New Orleans, LA Wessel+O’Connor Fine Art, Lambertville, NJ Julie Heller Gallery, Provincetown, MA Graficas Gallery, Nantucket, MA 2009 Culinary Delights, San Antonio Museum of Art, San Antonio, TX Two Decades: David Halliday, Carrie Haddad Photographs, Hudson, NY 2008 Arthur Roger Gallery, New Orleans, LA Still-Life, Stephen Cohen Gallery, Los Angeles, CA Carrie Haddad Gallery, Hudson, NY Watermark Gallery, Houston TX Strange Fruit: David Halliday and Greg Kuharic...

Chromogenic Digital Print 40 x 30 inches Edition size: 15 *Please inquire for additional sizes* Lawrence Schiller is an American producer, screenwriter, and photographer best known for his candid photos of Marilyn Monroe. For almost 35 years, Schiller collaborated with Norman Mailer to create several films together, including Executioner's Song (1982), for which Mailer received the Pulitzer Prize. “I never considered myself a good photographer. I still don't,” he has said. “I thought of myself as a hard worker. My camera was a sponge and I had an instinct that athletes have—anticipation.” Born on December 28, 1936 in Brooklyn, NY, was raised in San Diego and attended Pepperdine College in Los Angeles. After graduating, he held photojournalist positions at Time, The Sunday Times, The Saturday Evening Post, and Newsweek. The artist later broke into the world of film by directing part of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid in 1969 and Lady Sings the Blues in 1972. Blue Heart
By Diana Bloomfield
Located in Sante Fe, NM
Diana H. Bloomfield "Figurative" Statement I began this ongoing series of my daughter over eighteen years ago. These particular images work as narratives. Alone, or in combination, they have a story to tell. As metaphorical portraits, they suggest the essence of a person, rather than offer any literal interpretation. I like to think of these as visual vignettes that suggest half-remembered, fragmented dream worlds. They borrow from the past, my fugitive and skewed memories of that past, and fleeting moments in time. These multi-layered prints and the frequent use of toy and pinhole cameras offer a sense of movement and fluidity. The repeated layerings are meant to add a tonality and saturated richness, yet each layer also serves to remove all the hard, clearly defined edges and sharp clarity. A softness and ambiguity results— much the way we see and remember. I choose to print in 19th century hand-applied printing processes. These antique printing...
