David Byrne, legendary frontman of American band The Talking Heads and author of How Music Works, was born in Dumbarton, Scotland in 1952. Byrne is a multi-intrumentalist most known for his high-energy performances and distinctive, wide-ranging voice. He formed The Talking Heads with fellow RISD student, Chris Frantz, and Frantz's girlfriend, Tina Weymouth, in 1975 while living in New York City. In 1990 he founded the world music record label Luaka Bop, which released music from artists including Os Mutantes, Tom Ze, and Zap Mama.
Byrne's solo career has been broad and multi-disciplinary. Since the 1990s, Byrne has exhibited his visual artwork at numerous galleries including Pace/MacGill Gallery in New York City. In 2006 he released Arboretum, a collection of his philosophical drawings, published by McSweeney's. Byrne's drawings are what he calls "mental maps of imaginary territory." Says Byrne, "if you can draw a relationship, it can exist... the world keeps opening up, unfolding, and just when we expect it to be closed—to be a sealed sensible box—it shows us something completely surprising." Gianfranco Asveri was born in Fiorenzuola D’Arda, Italy, in 1948. The artist lives and works at Gasperini on the hills between Parma and Piacenza with his beloved dogs.
He began to paint in 1969. His first work was merely figurative. In the 1980s he moved closer to the “Art Brut” style.
Renowned in Italy, Asveri has just finished a solo exhibition in Genoa at the Medioeval “Commenda” and will be presented in Paris next February during the Contemporary Art Fair in Port de Versailles.
Recently, the newspaper “Il Sole 24 Ore” (The Italian Economic newspaper) included Asveri among the artists to watch in terms of investment in the Italian Art Market.
An appreciable number of famous critics have written essays about his works: Paolo Bledinger, Luca Beatrice, Flaminio Gualdoni and Martina Corgnati.

This work is hand pencil signed and dated (1967) by the artist.
An original, one-of-a-kind relatively large work by Burkhardt. Would be a great addition to any collection of his work or a stunning stand-alone art accent piece in about any setting. His original female/ women nude works are becoming rare and harder to find.
Hans Burkhardt was born in 1904 in Basel, Switzerland. At the age of 20, he immigrated to New York to work with his father. From 1925 to 1928 he attended the Cooper Union School of the Arts, where he befriended mentor Arshile Gorky and Willem de Kooning—sharing Gorky's studio from 1928 to 1937. In 1937 he moved to Los Angeles, California.
Burkhardt held his first solo exhibition in 1939 at Stendahl Gallery in Los Angeles. In 1945 he had a highly acclaimed solo exhibition at the Los Angeles County Museum. Burkhardt spent most of the 1950s working in Mexico. Art critics of the time considered him a "great Mexican master” alongside Orozco, Rivera, and Siqueiros, and Rufino Tamayo admired his work. He returned to Los Angeles in the 1960s to create some of the most powerful examples of Abstract Expressionism of the time. During this time he also became well known for his richly drawn pastel abstractions of the human figure of which this original work certainly qualifies.
He died in Los Angeles in 1994.
