4 Ludwig Mies van der Rohe Mr10 Dining Chairs 1960s Knoll International
By Ludwig Mies van der Rohe
Located in London, GB
Complete set of four chrome cantilever MR10 chairs by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, in brown leather. This set of chairs is an early 1960s example of his famous design produced by Knoll International. The MR10 chair was first designed in the 1920s, and this set of four features the chrome springs on the backs and seats. Later the design was improved, with a shortening of the springs and a reversion to an elastic corset cord. The chairs still bear the oval sticker marks on the back of the bottom of the seats. MR10 chairs are really comfortable, and are a real design Classic, as seen in many films and other media. Our MR10 chairs recently have been used to decorate the interior of a restaurant in London, which was featured in Architectural Digest, Dezeen, Elle Decoration, and many other publications (as shown in the images, which are property of Child Studio...

Pair of brown leather and chrome Sigurd Ressell Falcon chairs for Vatne Møbler
By Sigurd Ressell, Vatne Møbler
Located in Highclere, Newbury
An exceptional pair of early 1970s vintage Vatne Møbler, Sigurd Ressell Falcon chairs in beautifully patinated brown leather with chrome frames. Known for its distinctive and striking chrome frame and suspended sling seat the Falcon Chair stands out as one of the most instantly recognisable pieces of vintage Scandinavian design. Originally designed by Ressell in 1970 the first chairs were produced in chrome and leather, and had a more industrial aesthetic which aligned with a trend that had started in Denmark in the late 1960s and early 1970s – using metal bar to create chair structures was popularised by the key Danish designers of the time; most notably, Poul Kjærholm, Preben Fabricius and Jørgen Kastholm. The chair has undergone several refinements and as consumer preferences shifted towards warmer, more organic materials, the Falcon Chair followed suit. In the mid-1970s, Vatne Møbler transitioned the chair’s frame from steel to bentwood, replacing the original chrome structure with a laminated beech or rosewood frame. This change softened the chair’s industrial edge and aligned it more closely with the naturalistic elements of Scandinavian furniture design, but also helped lower transportation cost to the USA which proved to be the largest market for export Falcons. All that said, for most purists seeking a vintage Falcon the original chrome framed version, which is as Ressell initially envisioned it, is often the first choice as it not only makes more of statement but it’s proven to be more durable – as such the chrome frame Falcons command higher prices and hold their value well. This pair are presented in very good vintage condition with light wear commensurate with age and use. There is the usual light cracking of the leather on the top of the sling belt supports but no holes, cracks or tears in the main leather upholstery, and no loss in integrity of the cushion padding. The stone coloured canvas slings are virtually unmarked (as they are in such great condition it’s possible that they may have been refreshed at some point) and the steel frames have only very light tarnish and no rust, pitting or flaking of the chrome. Sigurd Ressell Born in Norway in 1920, Sigurd Ressell studied at the National Academy of Craft and Art Industry in Oslo, where he developed his keen sense of industrial and furniture design. Ressell’s work was defined by strong geometric lines, practical aesthetics, and a deep understanding of materials. His career gained momentum in the 1950s, working for Sørlie Fabrikker, before he eventually collaborated with Vatne Møbler, the company that brought the Falcon Chair to life. Ressell also drew inspiration from the sleek, organic lines of nature, something deeply embedded in Scandinavian design philosophy. The Falcon Chair’s curved frame mimics the movement of a bird in flight, while its suspended leather seat cradles the user, offering both visual lightness and physical relaxation. The Falcon is his most famous work, but his broader body of work showcases a consistent dedication to comfort, function, and timeless design. Vatne Møbler Founded in 1946, Vatne Møbler is a Norwegian furniture manufacturer known for its commitment to producing high-quality, handcrafted furniture. The company gained international recognition during the 1960s and 70s, particularly with the Falcon Chair, which became a best-seller. Vatne Møbler's approach has always emphasized quality craftsmanship, using durable materials and skilled techniques to create furniture that lasts for generations. Even as trends shifted, the company continued to produce and refine the Falcon Chair, ensuring that it maintained its place in modern homes. Today, vintage Falcon Chairs...

Pair of Mid 20th Century French Parisian Club Armchairs
Located in Benington, Herts
A Pair of Fine Parisian Club Armchairs, Mid 20th Century In the Style of Jean Royère and Jean-Michel Frank. French most definitely Parisian circa 1940-50. The chairs of deep and comfortable form with cloud-shaped rising seat backs and arm supports of rounded profile. The chairs are fully upholstered in bouclé, including the separate cushions, and stand on square plinth feet. Taking some of their design inspiration from the seat furniture of the Art Deco period, these chairs are of mid century date and undoubtedly of French origin. These chairs are of a peculiarly French form known as the club chair. Chairs of this sort were designed by many of the great French designers of the Art Deco period and later and the present chairs incorporate stylistic elements which relate to designs from two the 20th century's greatest furniture designers, Jean Royère and Jean-Michel Frank. 19th C Oak Stool with Leather Strap Top all handmade, Arts & Crafts period
Located in Lincoln, Lincolnshire
This is a good handmade stool with a well turned solid oak frame and a woven leather strap top, all dating to the Arts & Crafts period of the late 19th century. The stool is made of solid oak. The frame joints into four legs with ring turned detail and with four jointed rectangular cross stretchers between the legs, making this a very strong construction. The seat top is made of interwoven reddish-brown leather straps which sit on fabric webbing below the leather and give additional support to the seat. The seat is finished off with four narrow leather strips that run along the lower seat edge, one on each side, that are secured by brass nail studs. The stool has developed a good patina from age and use and the reddish-brown leather has a deep natural mature shine, only achieved by repeated polishing and use over the years. This piece is made in the 17th century Jacobean style but we date the stool to the late 19th century, made in the English Arts & Crafts period of the late 19th century. Please note the images are taken both indoors and outdoors in different light conditions. Notes on English leather topped seating Leather covers on English seating dates back to the middle ages and the 16th century. Mature leather seats can be as tough and polished as the wood of the frame itself. During the reign of Elizabeth 1st...

Jää Sustainable Indoor and Outdoor Bench Made with Recycled Plastic in Black
By Jo Wilton and Mirka Grohn
Located in Leicester, GB
Jää - a Finnish word for both ice and ‘please stay’. The inspiration for this bench / seating came from the beautiful and practical nature of recycled plastic and its environmentally friendly credentials. The white color of this material made us think about melting slushy snow and ice. The black made us think of the ground, and how dark it looks once the snow melts and exposes the soil after a long winter. Made with a mixture of polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) plastic with small aluminium spacers and nuts, the Jää bench is fully recyclable. The PE and PP plastic shapes are 100% recycled post-consumer plastic i.e. pure waste that has been diverted from landfills. Through the design and the use of materials, we wanted to show that recycled furniture...

This lovely pair was made from masterly crafted hand-carved solid mahogany with an interesting hand-carved crest of a bird on top of each. They have been reupholstered in a sumptuous chocolate brown leather with button backs and stand on their original brass and porcelain castors. There is no mistaking their beautiful and stylish design, which is certain to make it a treasured addition to one of the rooms in your home. Dimensions in inches: Height 3 feet, 6 inches x width 2 feet, 3 inches x depth 2 feet, 7 inches. Mahogany is probably one of the largest ‘families’ of hardwood, having many different varieties within its own species. Mahogany has been used for centuries in ship building, house building, furniture making etc and is the core structure of just about every 19th century vanity box, dressing case or jewelry box. It became more of a Victorian trend to dress mahogany with these decorative veneers, such as burr walnut and coromandel, so that the actual mahogany was almost hidden from view. Mahogany itself is a rich reddish brown wood that can range from being plain in appearance to something that is so vibrant, figured and almost three dimensional in effect. Although mahogany was most often used in its solid form, it also provided some beautifully figured varieties of veneer like ‘flame’ mahogany and ‘fiddleback’ mahogany (named after its preferred use in the manufacture of fine musical instruments). Cuban mahogany was so sought after, that by the late 1850s, this particular variety became all but extinct. Scottish leather These chairs are upholstered in top quality Scottish cow...

4 Poul Kjaerholm PK9 E. Kold Christensen chairs with seat height extensions
By E. Kold Christensen, Poul Kjærholm
Located in Highclere, Newbury
A set of 4 Danish Mid Century vintage leather and steel PK9 chairs designed by Poul Kjaerholm for E. Kold Christensen with additional bespoke, later designed, optional seat height extensions. These are a beautifully crafted set of chairs with a simple but striking form that have often been cited as Kjaerholm’s finest work; and for good reason… as the story goes Kjaerholm was inspired by a sand imprint of his wife’s behind from a day at the beach. Later, during the design process, Hanne Kjærholm sat in boxes of clay to find the most optimal and comfortable solution; so now you know. These also have the additional benefit of expertly crafted seat height extensions that can be used or not, depending on the height of your preferred table. Note that these are not original extensions as the chairs didn't ever have such additions as they were designed at a lower height to match Kjaerholm’s PK tables...

"Office Armchair" by Pierre Jeanneret, circa 1955
By Pierre Jeanneret
Located in London, GB
Authentic 'Office Chair' from the administrative buildings of Chandigarh (Ref. PJ-SI-28-B). In excellent condition - joints have been restored and cane work replaced. Pierre Jeanneret (22 March 1896 - 4 December 1967) was a Swiss architect who collaborated with his cousin, Le Corbusier, designing furniture for Le Corbusier's vast modernist complex at Chandigarh. Jeanneret remained for over 15 years as the project’s chief architect and the city remains a masterpiece of the modern vision. The pair pioneered a new aesthetic that placed function and order over embellishment—Jeanneret’s work imbuing the strict geometry of modernism with lighter materials like cane and wood. Jeanneret also collaborated with other modern masters, Charlotte Perriand on experiments in aluminium and wood, and Jean Prouve developing prefabricated housing.
