Bohemia is well known for crystal, in large part because of certain minerals found only in Bohemia, now the Czech Republic. The casing is two crystals melted together, then cut. They set the stage for crystal making and cutting, and I think you may have that backwards, they taught the rest of Europe how to make and cut glass. A Very Impressive & Superbly Cast Patinated Bronze Bust of George Stephenson, of generous proportions. Mid Nineteenth Century. Engraved E W Wyon Sculptor and dated 1858 also engraved DELPECH RED.
Dressed in classical draperies and looking slightly to the left, ending on its original circular socle on spreading base.
Condition: Good original untouched condition, nice surface patination, very small scratch on his chest, see image.
