Over the course of a career lasting half a century, Slim Aarons (1916-2006) portrayed high society, aristocracy, authors, artists, business icons, the celebrated and their milieu. In doing so, he captured a golden age of wealth, privilege, beauty and leisure that occurred alongside—but quite separate from—the cultural and political backdrop of the second half of the Twentieth Century. The Slim Aarons Estate has released the limited Estate edition as a Lambda print, which is a modern c-type prints. They have chosen Lambda prints for their sharpness, clarity, colour saturation and quality, compared to archival inkjet prints. Lambda printing gives true continuous tone. Step into the world of 1970s elegance with this extraordinary Slim Aarons photograph. Taken in January 1970, it encapsulates the essence of vintage 1970s glamour at a pool party at Nelda Linsk's iconic desert house in Palm Springs, California. This vibrant image captures the scene with guests adorned in quintessential desert glamour and sportswear, draped in hues of pastel greens, purples, crisp white crochet, and vivid yellow. Rays of City Light, fine art photography on maple wood, yellow and orange NYC
By Hugo Garcia-Urrutia
Located in Dallas, TX
Part of the “Wooden Postcards” series by husband and wife team Hugo Garcia-Urrutia & MK Semos, "Rays of City Light" is shot using cross-processed medium format film and a Holga camera. The imagery is a vibrant New York City street scene, showing an iconic yellow taxi cab and abstract orange patterns and "rays of light" emulating from the buildings. The frames are manually juxtaposed inside the camera to create “rays” emulating from the urban chaos of taxi cabs and skyscrapers. Urrutia crafts the substrate from white oak flooring, with the natural wood grain becoming an essential element of the composition. The choice of white oak, with its natural grain visible through the film overlay, reinforces a sense of history and urban grit, allowing the wood itself to become an active part of the composition. HUGO GARCIA URRUTIA Hugo Garcia Urrutia is an interdisciplinary artist, interested in the cross-pollination between art and architecture. A graduate and active member of the Architectural Association in the United Kingdom, Urrutia’s work creates a distinct spatiality located at the interstice of art and architecture. His work explores and uses the technology for design and fabrication, with a sensitive and conscious reminder of the creativity of human endeavor. Urrutia graduated from the Architectural Association in 2013, earning a Master of Architecture in the Design & Make programme. In 2000, he graduated from Texas Tech University, with a Bachelor of Architecture and Design and received the 2000 Outstanding Thesis Award. In 2004, he founded Decorazon Gallery in Dallas’ historic Bishop Arts District where he directed, curated and exhibited numerous art/architectural exhibitions for national and international artists. His personal artwork has been exhibited in the United States, United Kingdom, Thailand, Colombia, and Hong Kong. His participation in art and architectural competitions and public projects include; the AIA Cincinnati, where he received the Design Award for the 2000 National Urban Poetry I competition and the 2005 ARQUINE - International Architecture Competition in Mexico City. His art installations – The Mexican Tsunami, and Making a Killing – have both been featured at the Art Santa Fe 2010 Contemporary Art Fair, curated by Charlotte Jackson, and University of Dallas and the McKinney Avenue Contemporary (MAC) in Dallas curated by Charissa N. Terranova. Together with the AA-DLAB 2012 team, Urrutia presented the Fallen Star at the Architectural Association Back Member’s Room. MK SEMOS MK Semos is a Greek-American artist whose work is deeply rooted in her passion for storytelling. Raised in Dallas, Texas, her artistic journey began at the Booker T. Washington School for the Performing and Visual Arts and later at the University of Texas at Austin, where she earned degrees in photojournalism and photo illustration. It was in New York City during the vibrant 1990s that her artistic vision crystallized. Captivated by the city's energy, Semos photographed its dynamic urban landscapes and eclectic people, using her SL 66 Rolleiflex camera to capture movement and emotion. Even after three decades, she finds endless inspiration in the city’s pulse, describing it as an "endless source of inspiration." Semos’ work spans travel, portraiture, and environmental photography, with her mastery of the Holga camera earning her recognition in publications like New York Magazine, Business Traveler, and Timeout NY. Alongside her husband, Hugo Garcia Urrutia, she co-founded DeCorazon Gallery, showcasing global artists and exhibiting her own works in prestigious art fairs around the world. Semos also serves on the board of the Association of Women Art Dealers...

Luciano Pavarotti (Edition of 100) - 20"x24"
By Dan Springer
Located in New York, NY
This 2013 fine art print caricature, is legend opera star Luciano Pavarotti (1935-2007), the most commercially successful tenor of all time, holding the honorific title "King of the High Cs". This caricature was created by artist Dan Springer and shows the maestro singing, mouth wide open, hitting the highest notes in Opera on a Red-Maroon. It was mastered from the original drawing in high resolution digital format and reproduced in a numbered-edition series, on fine art archival pigment paper. Dan’s focus is to elevate the personalities of iconic celebrities by using exaggerations of some of their physical characteristics and also an oversimplification of others. Dan Springer states: “There’s the character and then the caricature. If it’s a celebrity, there’s always a persona that’s a caricature outside of who the celebrity is but in different layers. My goal is to bring out those layers of the character, in a caricature format that is defined by their facial image and their eccentricities.” Dan Springer received his formal art training at the Rhode Island School of Design where he received his BFA in Illustration in 1991. Since then, he has done freelance illustration for various publications including "The New York Times", "The Village Voice", and "Avenue" magazine. He started his fine art career in 1996 when he founded the "4E Gallery" in Tribeca where he and his partner showed various artists, as well as their own work every month. He also showed at numerous galleries and clubs, including the "Ace Gallery", the "Gershwin Gallery", "The Tunnel" and "Faces and Names", (161 W. 54th St.), and "Rumours" (8th Ave. & 55th St.) where he has a permanent exhibition. He has also done live caricatures at "Faces and Names" since they opened in 1997. He has worked as a caricature artist since 1991, including work at Six Flags...

Increasingly heralded for his influence, Slim Aarons (1916-2006) made a career out of photographing "attractive people doing attractive things in attractive places." Aarons is known for his iconic images of Hollywood glamour and luxurious people, places and lifestyles. Undercurrent Projects offers premium quality photographic prints from the Slim Aarons Archive, owned and housed by Getty Images. All photographs are printed and authorized by the Getty Images Gallery, London. Photographs are printed utilizing the original transparency held at the archive source. Aarons began his career as a combat photographer in World War II. Though he earned a Purple Heart for his service, he declared that combat had taught him that the only beach worth landing on was decorated with beautiful people enjoying themselves in the sun. Slim Aarons is noted for his documentation of the Beautiful People over 50 years, encompassing high society, celebrity, aristocracy, and the jet set. He was born and raised in New York City and New Jersey and later New Hampshire. He took up photography as a teenager. At the age of eighteen, he enlisted in the U. S. Army and was later appointed official photographer at the United States Military Academy at West Point. During World War II he served as an army combat photographer for Yank magazine in Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East. After the war he became a freelance photojournalist, first based in Hollywood, then Rome, then New York. His photographs appeared in many magazines, including Life, Holiday, Town & Country, Look, Venture, and Travel & Leisure. His first book A Wonderful Time (1974) is considered a classic. We are invited to join his excursions throughout the country as he brings light to the captivating, idiosyncratic characteristics of the land. He captures the oddities of the landscape; solitary figures bathing in sunlight, silhouette of a frolicking Great Dane in the mist, and subtle remnants of a bygone era. Kelly’s incredibly unique, picturesque editing style further mythologizes his subjects, he meddles with an air of mystery that defines the viewers experience. Kelly employs a mixture of a single image with layers of photographs of textures. The feel and look of the end result pay homage to English romanticist landscape painters such as J.M.W Turner and Constable. Kelly applies varnish and then uses Photographic Encaustic wax over the print. He encases the archival pigment print in beeswax and damar resin; tree sap in its purest form. These organic components have been found to have preserving qualities by ancient Egyptians, which replace the need for glass over the photograph. The impersonality of a raw digital file is alleviated through this process and makes the image a ‘one off. Combining modern photographic and printing technology with ancient crafting techniques, Kelly
is the originator of art that is tactile, archival and organic. In one image entitled ‘Brabyns Autumn” examines man’s contemporaneously interruptive and complimentary relationship with the surrounding land, and zeros in on a serenity only manifested when man and nature successfully coexist. Small figures, animals, and dwellings found in the landscape are essential points of interest for Kelly. Using nature as a tool for fortifying scale and perspective, Kelly magnificently reinforces the grandiose essence of nature as opposed to the insignificant disposition of man. Kelly’s tiny...
