"My work challenges the boundary between control and uncertainty. The grounding I feel through my work is an expression of the space that exists between these two phenomena. I mix my color and pour my paint, unsure of the outcome. I pick up the panel and start to dance with the movement of the paint as it slides from one side to the next. As the layers of color accumulate on each painting, the opportunity to manipulate the space between control and uncertainty diminishes. A sense of urgency arises, which is expressed in the textured movement of color. Paradoxically, as the process unfolds, my desire to control dissipates, and I am left with the ambiguous feeling of uncertainty. This cycle is repeated endlessly, incessantly, as if my will alone could leave its imprint. Whereas in the past this ambiguity would disturb me, I now find the process reassuring. It is clear that, despite my best intentions, each piece will choose its own path."
Kristina Quinones was born and raised in Connecticut. Received her bachelor's degree in Printmaking from the University of Connecticut in 2001 then moved to California. Whenever there is a little extra paint on a brush, Dantone would add it to a panel, slowly creating a new composition out of the leftovers from his other work. I tribute my abilities to naïve confidence and other’s positive attention. As a kid, drawing was magical . . . Though my art stylings vary widely, one thread stitches all of my work together, (my art) is my critique on man’s apparent love for life and his constant destruction of it.”

Reams explores the energy of his art in a sculptural way, building layer upon layer, color upon color. This visceral interpretation aligns with Reams' intent to always paint in the moment, allowing the paint, the emotion, and the energy of the painting to direct what happens on the canvas.
In the late nineties, Reams began putting vignettes of drawings and paintings together. He then built fifteen-foot panels of these fragments, creating the equivalent of abstract collage. These large-scale pieces reflected his search for a non-routine way of painting. This new media approach paved the way for the works that followed, as the artist carved out a distinct artistic style of his own.
