A Pewter and Copper Mezuzah Case by Shalom Bodner, United States 20th Century
Located in New York, NY
A Refined Pewter and Copper Mezuzah Case made by Shalom Bodner, in the United States in the 20th Century. Shalom Bodner (1932-) Born in Czechoslovakia, Bodner immigrated to Israel in 1949. He studied painting and sculpture at the Bezalel Academy of Art in Jerusalem and continued his studies at the Grande Chaumiere in Paris. In 1979 Bodner came to the United States where he pursued a career in jewelry and Judaica. He has been a painter for over forty years and has been exhibited throughout Israel, Europe, and South America. Each item he creates is individually hand-crafted from mixed media which includes silver, brass, copper, bronze, and lead-free pewter. A must-have for any Judaica Collector; this unique Mezuzah case is truly eclectic, made by a person who lived in many parts of the world, and his creativity is derived from those places. This mezuzah is not made in the general fashion of one solid piece rather three separate ones and when combined makes a fabulous designed casing. The top of the mezuzah case is decorated with a hamza and foliate scrolling and is inserted through its center cylindrical copper shaft to secure the scroll within. the center is beautifully embossed with foliate borders Surrounding the center "Shin" are the words "Shema Yisroel" spelled forward...

Rogan Gregory: Event Horizon
By Phaidon
Located in New York, NY
The first monograph of Rogan Gregory, the artist/designer at the forefront of contemporary organic form-making Rogan Gregory’s work pushes boundaries across media and scale – from miniature bronze animal forms to towering sculptures and furniture in innovative aggregated materials. Gregory’s iterative process and life-long interests in abstract forms, geology, and evolutionary biology allow him to develop an organic aesthetic unlike that of any designer working today. Audrey Werner, Banded Sterling Silver and Agate Earrings, United States, 1998
By Audrey Werner
Located in New York, NY
Audrey Werner has always been interested in the different ways people around the world, and throughout history, have adorned themselves. As a child, she would make jewelry from everything she could find—from beads to rocks, wire, and seeds. In 1992 she enrolled in classes at FIT with an eye toward expanding her knowledge of metal, and, from this point onward, was hooked. Later that same year, she landed an apprenticeship with the jeweler Gregg Wolf. Werner soon became his assistant, a position she would hold for the next two years while establishing her own practice. Another influence on Werner’s work came from a seemingly unexpected place. In 1996 she was sharing a studio with jeweler Philip Crangi...

The Tom Scheerer Compendium Book by Tom Scheerer
Located in New York, NY
The Tom Scheerer Compendium By: Tom Scheerer Photography by Francesco Lagnese The best work by Tom Scheerer, the contemporary dean of American interior design, presented in a two–volume set with a stunning caning–patterned slipcase Elegant. Restrained. Unpretentious. Sophisticated. Informal. These seemingly contradictory adjectives all characterize the inimitable interior design of Tom Scheerer, who has himself dubbed his style “Relaxed Modernism.” For more than three decades, he has brought his singular touch to city apartments, country houses, and tropical getaways. Each of the dozens of projects compiled in this two–volume set reveals the fierce intelligence, impeccable sense of proportion, and encyclopedic knowledge of design history that inform his deceptively effortless work. In a New York Times review of Scheerer’s first book, Tom Scheerer Decorates, design journalist David Netto...

Bras, The Tastes of Aubrac
By Phaidon
Located in New York, NY
The story behind one of the most influential restaurants in the world, situated in the picturesque Aubrac region of France. With this long-awaited book, Sébastien Bras, son of legendary French chef Michel Bras, invites us through the doors of Le Suquet, his two Michelin-star restaurant with dramatic views over the breathtaking countryside. Through never-before-published recipes and specially commissioned photography, Bras tells the story of his family, where cooking is not only passed from generation to generation but is constantly reinvented and imagined. Featuring 40 iconic recipes, including Gargouillou of Young Herbs and Vegetables; Curry Cream Coulant; Onion Squash Aligot; and Potato Waffle filled with Beurre-noisette Cream; along with sumptuous and evocative images of the restaurant and surrounding landscape, Bras: The Tastes of Aubrac opens the Bras family album, showcasing the amazing story...
