A large blue star appears over the flags, and below the image reads "United Behind the Service Star". The poster features American soldiers carrying the flags of seven major service organizations: the YMCA, the National Catholic War Council, the Jewish Welfare Board, the Salvation Army, War Camp Community Service, the American Library Association, and the YWCA. These organizations were instrumental in providing various forms of support, such as food, medical care, and morale-boosting services, both to soldiers and civilians.

About this poster: The Farrell Lines Company was established in 1948 by the sons of James Augustine Farrell, the president of US Steel. It was previously known as American South African Lines (ASAL). It created a regular passenger and cargo line between New York and South Africa. The ship had a capacity of approximately 180 travelers with nicely furnished rooms and accommodations. Stops along the line in Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, Durban, and Marques in Mozambique.

Rare Rene Vincent automobile poster. Black and white posters are a rarity as far as vintage posters are concerned. The original idea was to catch the attention of passersby in every possible way. Color was an essential tool in advertising when posters were an essential source for name-brand recognition. The absence of color gives these auto posters a touch of class. They can also be compared to old photographs. Either way, you're looking at something special.
This one is incredibly cool since it came from the talented artist Rene Vincent. If his name doesn't ring a bell, his poster "Porto Ramos" probably will if you look it up on our site. You will find that he also created automobile posters as early as 1905, which are all extremely rare and hard to find. Don’t let this excellent-condition vintage poster pass you by.
Vincent only got to devote a little time to posters once he was in his forties, after working for many years in various publications--mainly humor and fashion magazines--and in decorative design. NEW YORK FLY TWA is an original vintage travel poster created by David Klein. Size 25.25" x 40". Archival linen is backed in very good condition, Grade A, and is ready to frame. No damage, no restoration, no stains, no tape, just an excellent condition original.
Klein is best remembered for the dozens of destination advertisements he created for TWA during the 1950s and ‘60s. For Destination New York, Klein creates a stacked perspective of some of the city’s best-known sights, piling landmark upon a landmark – St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Rockefeller Plaza’s Prometheus et al. – then crowning them with a bust of the Statue of Liberty, and the typeface of the New York Times.
TWA (Trans World Airlines) was formed in 1924 as Transcontinental & Western Air. The airline's first route was from New York to Los Angeles, followed by multiple National routes. The airline expanded to serve Europe, the Middle East, and Asia after WWII when the company was under Howard Hughes's owner's control from 1939 until 1961.
