"August tune" -- Oil Painting by Alexander Stolin
Located in New Orleans, LA
ALEXANDER STOLIN, born and raised in Kiev, Ukraine (under the former Soviet Socialist Republic), where he received intensive training and a master of fine arts degree in his homeland’s traditional art academies. He immigrated to San Francisco in 1992, met his future wife in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, then married and settled in New Orleans. He maintains a home and studio in Madisonville, Louisiana, and is a significant but understated figure in the New Orleans art community. As art critic D. Eric Bookhardt suggested in 2002, “Stolin is more accomplished than he is famous.” His art, often exhibited in thematic series that incorporate a variety of media, ranges from intimate portraits to large-scale murals (one measuring twelve feet by seventy-two feet). He has worked on a progressively larger scale, most recently designing and painting projects for the Louisiana film industry. Stolin’s technically proficient and complexly layered art reflects a unique fusion of the academic training he received in Kiev and his evolving response to the very different culture, lifestyle, and subject matter he has discovered in New Orleans, Madisonville, and the Gulf South.   Stolin’s Face to Face series of portraits, completed from 2000 to 2002, featured New Orleans artists including Douglas Bourgeois...

Demolished Lives - Painting Pop Art Red Green Purple Brown Blue Orange
Located in Sofia, BG
"Demolished Lives" is a painting by Maestro Vlado Vesselinov. About the painting: Style and Technic: POP ART, Contemporary, Acrylic, Oil on canvas The painting is unframed. “The impressions of artist's paintings on the viewer is so mighty, mesmerizing, grand, that it paralyzes the imagination and leaves no option. His paintings bring emotion of happiness, love, energy and beauty represented by the vast creative power of his talent.” Maestro Vesselinov has track records of multiples exhibitions. His works are owned in privet collections around the word. Painting of the Bulgarian artist Vlado Vesselinov is a great example that the vintage style prevails lately and is also present in the world of contemporary art. The work of Vesselinov should be read as an expression of nostalgia and fascination with the past - fashion, design and pop culture of the 60s. A characteristic feature of these images is a clearly visible texture of the canvas, which remind us pages that someone snatched from a fashion magazine found in the attic. It's similar to the effect used by Quentin Tarantino in his recent productions, where full of dirt and defects film reels pulls the audience in a unique atmosphere of a Drive-in theater. As for the colors of Vesselinov artworks, he clearly refers to the psychedelic record covers of Jimi Hendrix or Jefferson Airplaine. Vlado Vesselinov born in 1977 Bulgaria Solo exhibitions: 1998 – solo exhibition, Kyustendil, Bulgaria 1999 – solo exhibition – Gallery Kovachev, Kyustendil, Bulgaria 2000 – solo exhibition – Art Gallery "Vladimir Dimitrov...

Swimming Pool Fun, Acrylic on Canvas, Red, Blue, by Indian Artist "In Stock"
Located in Kolkata, West Bengal
Farhad Hussain - Swimming Pool Fun - 15 x 15 inches (unframed size) Acrylic on Canvas, 2020 Inclusive of shipment in roll form. Style: Farhad Hussain's colourful work that includes drawings and watercolours besides paintings on canvas, features day to day visual experiences of middle-class urban India. He endows his narrative with iconography and personality through his figuration, their posturing, dress and the surrounding imagery. The drama of subtle complexities of human relationships and social environment are grounded with a sense of satire mixed with pathos. Farhad’s colours help enhance the brightness and aura of his paintings while he also partakes elements from traditions such as the formulaic textile patterns of Indian miniatures. His compositions are often set in a familiar drawing room or a social space, playing out with humour and sarcasm, the narrative psychologies of human life and encounters at various levels. This young artist who has also experimented with sculpture has already carved a niche and an instantly recognizable individualistic style befitting his aesthetics and concerns. Farhad has chosen to use tempera on cloth for his works, the media allowing him to achieve the desired vibrancy of colours. A slow build-up of images and spontaneous flow of colour while balancing colour and composition simultaneously follow structured formatting. This meticulous planning in the composition and layout is the beginning of a process from where onwards it is very spontaneous and intuitive. Another technique used throughout Farhad’s work is the method of applying the colour: dot-by-dot till the entire area is completely covered. Various elements from miniature paintings, Kalighat paintings, Japanese prints and images from mass media are scrutinized, transformed and transferred on to the surface through the artists own style of expression. About the Artist and his works : Born: 1975 in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand. Boy Dancer, Acrylic on Canvas by Contemporary Indian Artist "In Stock"
Located in Kolkata, West Bengal
Birendra Pani - Boy Dancer - 66 x 42 inches (unframed size) Acrylic on Canvas In this series of works - “Boy - Dancer”, Gallery Kolkata revisits the artists very popular and well lauded ‘Boy Dancer’ suite of paintings on the plight of traditional Gopitua dancers from his native land, Odisha. The boy dancers who perform a devotional dance ritual are quickly declining in today’s cosmopolitan world. Pani entwines his empathy for the dying art with an opinion on our post-Modern era. In that respect, Pani does not try to create nostalgia for the decline in the taste for the dancers, instead he problematizes the issue by bringing in a dispassionate view of the issue. The ten canvases on display in this exhibition, features the Gopitua dancers in different situations. The canvases are a hyper-real portrait, far & close shots of a Gopitua dancers with liquid innocent eyes and a small smile playing upon his lips as he confronts the viewer. The blade is a recurring motif in Pani’s work and it has multiple functions and meanings. In this instance its meaning is rather clear — one where modernity eclipses tradition. Style : His fresh, perspective and contemporary canvases have loud and vivid images and use colors like green and shocking pink unashamedly. Pani says his works are preoccupied with exploring contemporary materials, culture and current lives of people, the negligence of local places, their culture, history, memory and their identity in present times. Further he feels the consumerist attitude has penetrated deep into the human psyche. Human beings are being consumed by the commodity rather than them consuming it. In his works, Pani explore the struggles, contradictions, dichotomies and critical reflections of the embodied selves with changes in value, knowledge and culture in our present society. “I have extensively used body parts like brain, heart and other organs, and everyday objects like capsule, syringe, blade etc to create a new visual language. Deriving from life experiences, my idea is to create a new vision by the juxtaposition of the above experience with the rich legacy, diverse visual culture and sensibility of the vast tradition of Odisha’s miniatures and Pata paintings, stone carvings, monumental visuals of temples and dance forms like Gopitua dance and Chhau-dance in Odisha.” Pani, thus attempts to create a new phenomenology and the reinvention of ‘self’ in a globalized and yet very localized world. About the Artist and his work : BORN : 1969, Bhadrak, Odisha, India. FINE ARTS EDUCATION : 1997-1999 MFA – (First class with Distinction) Faculty of Fine Arts, M.S. University, Baroda. 1991-1997 BFA - Kala Bhavan, Viswa Bharati University, Shantiniketan, West Bengal. 1987-1990 2nd world “Studio for Fine Arts”, Bhadrak, Odisha. SOLO EXHIBITION IN INDIA AND ABROAD : 2017 Towards a new Viewership / Audience & Reproduction Aesthetics, Curated by Dr. Rajashree Biswal, organized by New Bridge India and North Odisha University, Baripada, Odisha. 2016 “Mahanadi”- A Journey through History, Memory and Culture curated by Maurice O Riordan of Australia at Lalit Kala Akademi, Rabindra Bhavan, New Delhi. 2015 Re-Vision / Relationship- a visual literary engagement of Birendra Pani and poet Jayanta Mahapatra, curated by Dr. Rajashree Biswal, and organized by New Bridge India, Forum on Contemporary Theory, Vadodara, Sarat Chandra Library, Baripada and Revenshaw University, Cuttack, Odisha at Revenshaw University, Cuttack. 2012 “Soft- Subversion” at Red Earth Art Gallery, Baroda. 2011 “Re – Vision” at Aakriti Art Gallery, Kolkata. 2010 “Re – Vision” at Gallery Sumukha, Bengalore. 2009 “Re – Vision” at Gallery Espace New Delhi and R.L.Fine arts, New York. 2007 “Boy Dancer’’-The convergence and continuum, at Gallery Espace, New Delhi. 2007 “Boy Dancer’’-The convergence and continuum, at Faculty Gallery, M.S.U., Vadodara. 2006 “Risk’’-The Double Edge of Society, at Gallery Espace, New Delhi. 2005 “Echo” at Kaleidoscope Art...

A Postcard from the Rose Period
Located in Atlanta, GA
I was born in Atlanta, Ga. in i948 and have always lived in the South. The rich tradition of storytelling is in my blood and it is impossible to ignore its influence on my narrative paintings.I am the director of my own tale and must create the characters, the setting, and the poetic tensions implied between the characters and the viewer. My paintings are done on canvas or museum board in a realistic manner with much attention to detail. I have created a technique of layering oil paints and varnish that give the surface a unique technical aspect, one that visually reflects the many levels at which the narrative can be interpreted. The paintings begin with the seed of an idea and a strong fascination and empathy for the central character. One can rely on conscious judgements concerning composition, whether to paint the figure nude or elaborately costumed ,and the use of one's own personal symbols and icons. I believe that only when the artist moves into uncertain territory and listens to her own private language, can she move beyond mere painting. Artist Statement C.Dawn Davis
