He says "Most of my work is influenced by experiences of working in the theatre and I use theatre based subject matter as a source for my paintings ; this includes ballet, Shakespeare, poetry, myth. I am particularly interested in the theatres capacity to transform and change these subjects through the use of costumes, make-up, lighting etc. This creates all sorts of abstract possibilities within the work and is an endless source of fascination for me. The paintings can depict dancers going about their backstage routines or can be heightened by more theatrical subject matter, such as poetry and myth. I think that it is the diversity of the subject matter that attracts me the most and the fact that it never ceases to provide fresh source material for my work. Most of my paintings are acrylic on canvas which combines the spontaneity of watercolour with the sturdiness of oil paint. Acrylic dries fairly quickly which generates an immediacy within the work as it progresses. This way, the painting always retains the element freshness that I am trying to capture. Other paintings are oil on canvas which are glazed to try and achieve a rich jewel- like quality. These technical experiences have enabled me to participate in demonstration classes for various magazines, books etc. My work was further developed with a series of Fine Art Residencies with The Birimingham Royal Ballet; Opera North; Northern Sinfonia and I draws on these experiences to inform and enrich my paintings. I have been a professional fine artist since graduating from university in the mid 80's and I have supplemented my studio work through teaching and gallery work. I have shown widely across the U.K. particularly the North-East and London."

Described as ‘Pop Art with thought,’ Agent X juxtaposes pop culture, technology, fashion, and music in visually complex amalgamations expressing the anxieties of the global, post-modern world and the dark side of consumerist, media-obsessed culture. - 'Rona Wars: Cyberpunk Edition, ' by XVALA, Mixed Media PaintingBy XVALALocated in Oklahoma City, OKThis 61" x 44" mixed media painting by the artist XVALA is from his series 'Pandemic Collection: 6.' The painting was created with iridescent oil stick and spray paint on a screen print of a Star Wars poster. The abstracted "Basquiat-inspired" work depicts a silver robot with red eyes and large white teeth on a purple and blue background with the text 'cyber punk' in red at the bottom of the painting. 2020 twisted human reality in a number of ways no one could ever have predicted. XVALA pays tribute to this by melding the original Star Wars movie poster with the unexpected weirdness of the 21st Century. By combining a classic sci-fi villain with a modern symbol of literal Cyberpunk, XVALA shows the COVID-19 virus aimed straight toward the earth with a mission to destroy it. Exhibited during the Pandemic Paintings exhibition at the Meme Ranch August 7th, 2020. XVALA's art illuminates the hidden fallout spawned from our high tech Internet age. His' Fear Google' campaign exposed the decay of privacy and 'No Delete' used hacked nude celebrity photos to highlight loss of control over personal information. The artist has worked with trash from the homes of Mark Zuckerberg, Steve Jobs, and others, as well as dirt from the graves of George Orwell and Aldous Huxley. The dirt appears in the 'New World Order' collection as part of a pyramidal, 3D printed, living ant farm...Category
