As a photographer, Rudi Molacek learnt not only the principles of composition but also above all the photographs dependence on technology and the associated aesthetics of serial generation. When changing from photograph to painting, he sought a classic genre of painting, namely depiction of flowers with the rose as a preferred motif. This subject later also became the focus of his sculptural approach, as coloured aluminium sculpture, conceived for outdoor nature. This artwork , signed IF in the left down corner, by the author Iain Faulkner, is a very well studied composition with two dancers, dressed in blue color, lying on a beautiful mosaic floor with gold border, having a rest. The circle design of the mosaic, the figures in three quarters in parallel; opposite the postures, the suits, and the colors blue and flesh. This complementation above and below, and to the left and right of the painting, gives the painting a surprising composition and excellent balance.
Despite the thick brushwork, the author achieves a very subtle effect in the definition of the two beautiful figures and very successful effects of light and shadow.
Iain Faulkner acknowledges the influence on his painting of artists such as Sargent, Degas, Whistler and, especially, Vermeer, showing scenes with figures performing everyday tasks while lost in thought, like this two dancers.
This piece was originaly purchased from Albemarle Gallery in London.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Born in Glasgow in 1973 and graduating from Glasgow School of Art in 1996 with a BA (Honours) in Fine Art.
His degree show was sell-out.

In the background, a beautiful city with classical buildings and a a forest; in the foreground, a small park where smokers gather next to the fountain crowned by a cupid holding a cigarette between his fingers. It is a group of six men and three women. They all smoke. They enjoy the smoke as they blow it out of their mouths, making shapes with it and interacting with each other in various poses.
Hands emerge from the trees of the nearby forest holding lighted matches between their fingers as a lure to attract smokers to the darkness of the forest. A very dreamlike image to represent the temptation of the forbidden.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Fomin is a storytelling artist. He is a storyteller in his everyday, anecdotally narrating the funny side of life, and he is a storyteller in his professional life, bringing to the canvas realistic popular scenes set in fairy-tale settings where the subject matter is always treated with irony and humor.
The titles of his paintings tell us about eccentric characters of an era, a culture, a society (which one?) - it doesn't matter, it is a distorted reality with a romantic and sentimental touch, which takes us to references such as Brueghel the Elder, El Bosco and Chagall, within an aesthetic and chromatism typical of Renaissance painting where Fomin develops his original scenes playing with the design of spaces, landscapes, buildings, characters and costumes. A stage director who makes us smile, but also reflect on his original interpretation of the human being, because this is the main protagonist of his paintings.

Keith Arthur Johnson was born at South Pickenham, Swaffham, Norfolk in 1931, son of James Arthur Johnson (9 February 1895-1982), a farmer, and his wife Florence May née Wiles (9 May 1900-1996), who married in the Freebridge Lynn district of Norfolk in 1927 and in 1939 were living at Manor Farm, Tottenhill, Downham, Norfolk. Keith painted from an early age and after attending Fakenham Grammar School, he attended Norwich School of Art from 1946, where apart from general studies, he specialized in fabric design which heightened his color awareness and composition sense. His studies were interrupted by National Service in the RAF after which studied for teacher training at Liverpool School of Art obtaining a National Diploma in Design and an Art Teachers Diploma, also studying various printing methods and Art History attached to Liverpool University. Keith returned to Norwich School of Art for more studies, including life classes and portrait painting and from 1951 went to Lowestoft Art School to lecture in Design classes and teach fabric design, including weaving.
