Abstract Aquatint Etching Ross Bleckner Zig Zag lines New York Artist D Loop
Located in Surfside, FL
ROSS BLECKNER (American, b. 1949) "D Loop," 2002 Limited Edition Print : Color Aquatint With Spit Bite Aquatint And Gampi Chine-Collé on Somerset Paper Approximate dimensions - Frame 29.5 X 28,.5 inches, sheet 27 x 26 inches. Edition lower left: 2/20, Hand signed lower right. Publishers blind stamp lower right margin: Paulson Press. Ross Bleckner draws inspiration from science, psychology, and his own personal experience. The title of this print, D Loop, refers to molecular biology and DNA repair abstracted in vivid blue and yellow. Ross Bleckner (born May 12, 1949) is an American artist. He currently lives and works in New York City. His artistic focus is on painting, and he held his first solo exhibition in 1975. Bleckner grew up in Brooklyn, New York and he grew up Jewish. In an interview, Bleckner commented that he was fortunate to have supportive parents. In 1961, Bleckner and his family moved to a more affluent town in Hewlett Harbor, New York, where he attended George W. Hewlett High School. In 1965, Bleckner saw his first art exhibition, The Responsive Eye, at the Museum of Modern Art, which went on to have a huge impact on his artwork. Eventually, this was a time when he realized that he wanted to become an artist. Bleckner went on to study at New York University, where he studied alongside fellow artist Sol LeWitt and Chuck Close. During college, Bleckner worked in an art supply store and drove a taxi. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A) from New York University (1971), and later received his Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A) at California Institute of the Arts. In 1974, when Bleckner moved back to New York, he moved into a Tribeca loft building. Three of the floors were rented to the painter Julian Schnabel and from 1977 to 1983 the Mudd Club, a nightclub frequented by musicians and artists, was in the same building. In 2004 Bleckner sold the building. He held his first solo exhibition in 1975 at Cunningham Ward Gallery in New York. Then In 1979 he began what was to become a long association with Mary Boone Gallery in New York. In 1981 Bleckner met Thomas Ammann, who was an influential Swiss art dealer who went on to collect Bleckner's work. Early 1990s, Bleckner did his first abstract painting called Cell painting which showed an example of human body cell diseases. Since either the 1980s or 1990s as an openly gay artist, his art has been largely an investigation of change, loss, and memory, often addressing the subject of AIDS. Bleckner uses symbolic modernist imagery rather than direct representation, and his work is visually elusive, with forms that constantly change focus. While much of Bleckner's work can be divided into distinct groups or series with motifs repeated from painting to painting, he is also in the habit of redeploying and combining old motifs. Bleckner has posited that a painting is never finished, provided it is still in his studio, because it can always be improved. In 2009, Bleckner published a book of his theoretical art statements entitled Examined Life: Writings, 1972-2007 that was published by Edgewise Press. In 1995, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum had a major retrospective exhibition of his works from the last two decades of exhibitions at acclaimed institutions such as San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Moderna Museet in Stockholm, and the Carnegie Museum of Art. He was one of the youngest artists to be featured at the Guggenheim. Bleckner's works are held in collections around the world including Museum of Modern Art, New York, (he was included in the show Contemporary Works from the Collection, MoMA along with Carl Andre, Richard Artschwager, Marcel Broodthaers, Jim Dine, Howard Hodgkin, Jasper Johns, Donald Judd, Anish Kapoor, Ellsworth Kelly, Robert Mangold...

Operating within the framework of the theme, "To Safeguard Peace and the Future of Humanity", the program for this special year was composed of the three primary components: Peace and Disarmament, Peace and Development and Preparation for Life in Peace. Cristóbal Gabarrón is a celebrated Spanish artist known for his work with the United Nations whose personal convictions are based on the individual human life, and the coexistence and the development of human values. Artist statement: “There is nothing as pure and innocent as a child’s creative imagination. Children are the future of our societies. We learn a lot from each other when interacting across generations and cultures on such issues that bind us together, such as human rights,” Artist bio - Cristóbal Gabarrón was born in the town of Mula (Murcia) in 1945, although at the age of six he moved with his family to live in Valladolid. He dedicated himself to painting from a very young age performing his first exhibitions, at the Galería Castilla de Valladolid and at the Galería Macarrón in Madrid. His work evolved from figuration to informalism, to the abstracción "symbolic and "postmodern," a "symbolic." In 1967, at the age of 22, Gabarrón exhibited at the Leob Gallery in New York and the Arts Perspective Gallery in Paris. His work has been marked by his life experience, humanism and his nomadic personality, which give him a unique, very personal style. A creation in continuous experimentation and evolution with strokes from its multiple rooms and exhibitions in different parts of the world. He currently resides between Bueu, on the Ria de Pontevedra and Valladolid, although he continues to be connected to his place of origin, the city of Mula. He received his first artistic training in Valladolid before continuing his career in France, Italy and the United States. Gabarrón's work is focused on his interest in humanism, for people's lives in harmony with their natural environment, for their peaceful coexistence and the development of human values. Their collaboration with international organizations, such as the International Olympic Committee or the United Nations, has led to a very fruitful period that lasts, following the exhibition of the Universe of Light (Enlightened Universe) inaugurated on 24 October 2015 at the famous Central Park in New York, by the UN Secretary General, Mr. Ban Ki-moon on the 70th Anniversary of the creation of the United Nations and which every year travels cities from all over the world, to commemorate UN and Human Rights Day: Geneva (2016), Amsterdam (2017), Brussels (2018), Valladolid (2020), La Valeta (2022). His work has been the same center of analysis within retrospectives such as those dedicated to the Chelsea Art Museum, the IVAM, the Museum of Modern Art of Gdansk, in Poland, the National Museum of Art of China in Shanghai, or the Herrerian Patio Museum of Contemporary Spanish Art...

Woman From Paris
Located in San Francisco, CA
This artwork, "Woman From Paris" 1979 (State I) is an original lithograph on creme Arches paper by renowned Navajo artist Rudolph Carl (R.C.) Gorman, 1932-2005. It is signed, dated and numbered 129/150 in pencil by the artist. The sheet size is 21.75 x 29 inches. It is in excellent condition, has never been framed, the colors are fresh and bright. About the artist: Born in Canyon de Chelly, Arizona and raised in a hogan on the Navajo Reservation, R.C. Gorman became one of the Southwest's best known late 20th-century artists. His signature works were Navajo women in a variety of poses. Many persons have been fascinated by the fact that he, an Indian artist, became famous in the white man's world with some calling him the "Picasso of Indian artists". Of this kind of attention, he said: "I wish people would quit pushing my being Indian. The only time I was interviewed as If I were a normal person was by the Jewish Press in Tucson. It was the first time I felt international and almost white". (Samuels 222) His parents were Carl Nelson...

Red Centered Purple Circle
Located in New York, NY
ABOUT THIS PIECE: Color is the foundation of my work. My circles start as a mood or idea that eventually evolves into a colored circle. I am curious how different colours interact when they're placed next to each other. I experiment with intensity of colours and the different sensations colours evoke. Why a Circle? When I explore my fascination with this shape I discover that the circle represents all that is familiar and comforting. It is the shape of the rising sun, of a mother's nipple, of the iris of the eye, and of a full moon. I use the latest digital technology as a medium to create my circles. ABOUT THIS ARTIST: Ruth Adler is a Canadian artist whose mediums include paintings, works on paper, animated films and textiles. She is inspired by the city of Tel Aviv, music (she plays the harmonica) and her personal memories. Jim Kempner Fine Art...
