An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver sugar sifter spoon and bowl - boxed; an addition to our silver teaware collection.
This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver gilt teaware set consists of a sugar bowl and sifter spoon.
The bowl has a circular rounded form to a circular spreading foot.
The surface of the bowl is embellished with exceptional chased floral ornamentation accented with scroll designs, all on a matte background.
The decoration to the bowl incorporates a putto* design to one side and a scrolling leaf bordered cartouche to the other, displaying the contemporary bright cut engraved crest of a unicorn before trees.
The upper portion of this exceptional bowl is encircled with a broad plain border and the rim of the foot is encompassed with an applied decorated border.
The exceptional sugar sifter ladle is embellished with further putto and scrolling leaf ornamentation, reflecting the design to that of the bowl.
The shell shaped bowl is embellished with scrolling pierced 'sifter' holes to each scalloped flute.
The reverse surface of the terminal incorporates a cartouche displaying the aforementioned crest.
Each exceptional example of Victorian silverware retains the original gilding.
The underside of the sugar bowl bears the retailer's mark 'Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Compy, 112 Regent St'.

A Gorgeous and extremely rare French Japonisme ormolu-mounted turtle footed Baccarat crystal vase designed with a gilt turtle design, Baccarat stamp on bottom. The quality and craftsmanship of this piece is second to none. Baccarat crystal is known to be the best crystal in the world and this piece appropriately demonstrates that. The crystal vase is seated on four beautifully cast and hand-chiseled ormolu turtles, representing the Japanese artistic movement in France at the time, known as 'Japonisme'. The body of the vase is a gorgeously hand painted with raised gold and enamel decoration of a turtle and various other decorations, making it seem as though the turtle is swimming in a lake. An exceptional, fine and impressive large antique Victorian English sterling silver christening mug; part of our silver christening collection
This antique Victorian silver christening mug has a circular, subtly tapering rounded form onto a circular spreading foot.
The body of the mug is embellished with exceptional embossed and chased decorated angel/putto* head designs, accented with wing motifs to the nadir.
The body of this large mug is further ornamented with large ribbon bow motifs and floral festoons, encompassing the aforementioned portrait designs, all within an arabesque band and matte background.
The decoration to the body incorporates a vacant shaped cartouche to the anterior.
The lower portion of this Victorian silver christening mug is encompassed with a plain applied girdle, above further chased floral designs within a shaped-scalloped border.
This mug is fitted with a cast silver angular handle with leaf decorated bifurcating terminals, in addition to impressive ribbon and leaf ornamentation to the upper portion of the handpiece.
This exceptional example of Victorian silverware retains the original gilding.

Original Antique silver plated biscuit box by James Deakin & Sons made in Sheffield, England, the end of the 19th century.
The company was founded in Sheffield in 1865 by James Deakin. Their trademark was James Deakin & Co., and in 1871 he worked with his three sons, William, John, and Albert, to change the firm's name to Deakin James & Sons. In 1888, the company opened offices and stores in London, as well as branches in Glasgow and Belfast. In 1897, it changed its name again to James Deakin & Sons Ltd. It closed in 1936.
