Emma Marriott Doulton Lambeth Art Pottery Floral Jug

About the Item

A very stylish antique Doulton Lambeth art pottery jug decorated with floral and leaf designs by Emma Marriott and dating from circa 1885. The stoneware jug stands on a narrow rounded stepped foot and is of tall bulbous shape applied around the lower body with stylized floral and leaf designs in raised colored slip clays against a brown salt glazed finish. With a large raised loop handle the jug has simple dark contrasting brown linear patterning around the top edge and shoulder and to the foot rim. The restrained patterning is very effective and the jug has impressed Doulton Lambeth marks to the base along with artist marks for Emma Marriott along with an incised NL mark. Provenance: Acquired in the UK Art Market. In good condition with light wear associated with age and use.
