William Nicholson (1872-1949) is among the most admired and elusive painters in the history of British art. Neither academic nor overtly modernist, his ravishing paintings are a singular achievement of the early twentieth century. Nicholson made his name as a graphic artist in the 1890s before turning to painting full-time. Over the next four decades he explored the genres of portraiture, landscape and still life with exceptional inventiveness, wit and technical skill. Yet his aversion to art groups and his reluctance to make public pronouncements about art have made it difficult to place his work within the main narratives of twentieth-century art history. The breadth of Nicholson's painting is revealed in this sumptuous book, the first fully illustrated catalogue raisonné of the oils. Many of Nicholson's pictures have not been recorded before and most are reproduced here for the first time. The catalogue, which represents more than twenty years of scholarship on the part of its author, Patricia Reed, includes detailed entries on all Nicholson's oil paintings and the most comprehensive chronology of his life to date. The binding is very faintly thumbed and slipcase has a closed tear to the base and some rubbing at corners but overall this delicate book is in wonderful condition. One of the 29 lettered and privately circulated copies, as stated on the limitation page, from a run of 529 (500 copies numbered).

Octavio Paz wrote this poem in New Delhi between July and September of 1966, while he was serving as Mexico's Ambassador to India.
As outlined in the "Aviso al lector", separately printed and included in this copy of the work, «Octavio Paz conceives the long poem as a different form and governed by its own logic, not as an expansion or extension of the short poem.» He begins experimenting with "poetry of movement, signs in rotation" culminating in Blanco. «Appearance, disappearance and reappearance of certain themes, presences, words, obsessions, the shape of Blanco is that of the spiral. There are two main currents—word and eroticism—that come together, separate and come together again. The text allows multiple readings: it is a cluster of meanings, a poem that contains several poems. ... The same poetic requirement governs the visual conception of the page and explains the particularities of this edition. Typesetting is one aspect of verbal composition. Full-page frontispiece for the work and with an additional full-page frontispiece for each of the two sections. Full contemporary vellum, untitled, with some handling discoloration but the vellum remains supple and the binding is tight. Pages clean and bright with a couple of foxing spots and a small brown stain on the 2nd frontis titled "Sacra Eremus ascetarum"; toned page edges. Previous owner's name and date in ink on front flyleaf and small pencil and ink notations inside back cover; bookplate of Buijnsters Smets pasted inside front cover.
