About the Item

First series of the famous Brionvega RR 126 FO cube. Produced in 1965 and fully restored has the following features: - silk-screen printing and high-gloss lacquering - power supply recapping and electronic overhaul - turntable overhaul with replacement of consumables - new magnetic cartridge and preamplifier It has been upgraded with the inclusion of Bluetooth function so that it can be used via modern electronic devices such as: cell phones, iPads or Tablets. When Bluetooth is active the lights in the ladder panels turn blue. Becoming an icon of 1960s pop art, this radiophonograph, featured in the world's most important permanent exhibitions of MODERN ART, was designed by the brothers ACHILLE AND PIERGIACOMO CASTIGLIONI on commission from GIUSEPPE AND ENNIO BRION (father and son owners of BRIONVEGA). In production in 1964 until about 1972. Of the RR126 there are 4 different versions with minimal internal differences: FIRST differed from later productions by its transistor-stabilized power supply, square keys and knobs turned from solid aluminum; it mounted the English GARRARD AT60 turntable with solid aluminum platter on which a plexiglass cover was drawn, which remained for all productions of the RR126. 2-way speakers with 20 cm IREL woofer drivers and oval alnico tweeters at the ends, light and sturdy plywood cabinet, this very early production was made only with wood veneer. A SECOND version, again with GARRARD AT60 then AT60 MK2 turntable (with arm lift), is produced lacquered WHITE, ARAGOSTA and WALNUT. 2-way speakers, switch on the first left square button, square and round buttons are now aluminum-coated plastic, fuse and voltage changer. Then RR126 is upgraded with smaller DUAL 1010 turntable with rounded edges and 4 black plastic pegs appear to place the plexiglass. The speakers are now single 20-centimeter bi-cone speakers (first French AUDAX then Italian IREL). The THIRD version, now has the chipboard cabinet always covered in WHITE WALNUT and ARAGOSTA, appears behind the headphone jack, and the turntables are the new square-edged DUALs. In addition to FM OM (medium wave) radio, it also features long wave OL (in the first left square key so the switch is moved to the first knob on the lower left). A hole higher up on the left also appears so that the PREAMPLIFIER for MAGNETIC turntable cartridges can be mounted upon request. A FOURTH and final version of the RR126 has been completely revised all the electronics. The salient changes were: - Electronics with negative ground - All transistors are now silicon instead of germanium - Internal working voltage is now at 60 volts As a result, the equipment is more powerful and qualitatively better, becoming a true hi-fi equal to those of today. It has a preamplifier for magnetic cartridge as standard, and the old electric Piezo head is no longer provided. The turntable is the Dual 1225, 1226 and other more reliable ones. Most importantly, it features new top-quality two-way speakers with 17cm Heco woofers and Heco tweeters (both German-made), separated by a beautiful cross over. A feature of this latest version--no cube closure is provided, as the speakers make use of the entire internal volume.
