Bronze Scultural Singing-Stone MDL. C. Speaker
By Maika Palazuelos
Located in Ciudad de México, CDMX
Playfully hinting at popular outdoor rock shaped speakers, this bronze cast music box domesticates the shape of a stone found in the mountains near Mexico City. A  listening- stone-for-interiors that explores connections between sound and sculpture. An object through which to rehearse the sculptural convention of listening to the material.  When sculpting in stone, it is common practice to press one’s ear against the material while lightly tapping it. The sounds and vibrations can reveal properties in the medium that are hidden from sight; hollows, interior fractures, hardness, and so on. There is an instant feedback from listening to stones when sculpting them; a true conversation with the material. In the tradition of bronze sculpture there has been a pursuit in perfectioning casting techniques in order to achieve better sonic resonance. Bronze casting was used to make some of the first metal instruments like bells, cymbals, horns among others Exhibited at XPAN: Mexico City (2023) Chic By Accident...

Sergio Bustamante Signed Sterling Sun & Moon Link Bracelet, Rare Edition, 1980s
By Sergio Bustamante
Located in West Palm Beach, FL
Sergio Bustamante Signed Sterling Silver Sun and Moon Link Bracelet, Mexico, 1980s Dimensions: 7.5" L x 0.5" W Weight: 32 grams Marks: “925 MEX” and “DB-925” (Sergio Bustamante maker's mark) A sculptural, celestial-themed bracelet by celebrated Mexican artist Sergio Bustamante, crafted in sterling silver. The piece features alternating links of expressive sun faces and crescent moons, each individually modeled with Bustamante’s signature surrealist features. The three-dimensional sun medallions radiate stylized flames, while the moons are cast with distinct facial features, gazing thoughtfully to the side. This work is clearly signed with the Bustamante hallmark “DB-925” on the reverse of each sun element and also marked “MEX 925.” The bracelet fastens securely with a hidden hook-style clasp, consistent with mid- to late-20th-century Mexican artisan jewelry. A superb and rare example of Bustamante's wearable art, this bracelet stands out for both its craftsmanship and its whimsical yet mystical iconography—perfect for collectors of Mexican modernism or celestial-themed adornments. Further Documentation: DB-925 MEX This is a known signature mark associated with Sergio Bustamante’s sterling...

Backgammon Lineal Wood Case with Glass Chips and Dice
By Orfeo Quagliata
Located in Naucalpan, Edo de Mex
Backgammon is a very old strategic board game, from which its origin is still undefined. A true Classic game about tactics and luck played around the globe. Taking this Classic as inspiration, Orfeo collaboration joined skills to create a board game with stimulating materials and astounding chips. Shined a spotlight on to the raw materials used to create it. The exterior of the board is composed of two elements, a metalic box and a thinly sliced oyster cut veneer of parota wood. The oysters are sourced from reclaimed branches of these gigantic trees; a material that is commonly discarded as fire wood given the difficulties of processing it. Underneath the wood they have used a single sheet of meticulously oxidized metal that is laser cut to size, then assembled into a box by one of their master craftsmen. Opening the chest you’ll find a treasure of glass checkers and dice handmade by Orfeo Quagliata’s artisans. Orfeo takes his most interesting glass techniques to apply them to all the chips in the game. The checkers are manufactured in two different processes. The "Barcodes" technique is a fine linear design with schemes of different colors that contrast between one competitor and another. Thin strips of different colored glass are placed next to each other and then fused into a single piece, from which circular pieces are drilled, ground and hand polished to form the chip. The more sober and bitone "Roarshax" technique presents an electrifying texture on the top of a transparent body. Meanwhile the dice are solid glass cubes...

Blanco by OCTAVIO PAZ
Located in Middletown, NY
A scarce example of one of the 29 privately circulated lettered copies. The entire run consisted of 529 copies, 500 of these being the numbered ones available to purchase. Paz, Octavio. BLANCO. Mexico City: Joaquín Mortiz, 1967. First, Limited Edition. 8vo., 9 x 6 3/4 in. (229 x 173 mm); printed in black and red, Bodoni type on Antique RLCH paper, joined to create a continuous 'concertina' of 32 pages (joined every 4) and printed on one side only. LEPORELLO BINDING with printed boards and cream cloth spine, title in black, slipcase. The binding is very faintly thumbed and slipcase has a closed tear to the base and some rubbing at corners but overall this delicate book is in wonderful condition. One of the 29 lettered and privately circulated copies, as stated on the limitation page, from a run of 529 (500 copies numbered). EXTRAS: "Aviso al lector" sheet printed on yellow paper. Very good. Octavio Paz wrote this poem in New Delhi between July and September of 1966, while he was serving as Mexico's Ambassador to India. As outlined in the "Aviso al lector", separately printed and included in this copy of the work, «Octavio Paz conceives the long poem as a different form and governed by its own logic, not as an expansion or extension of the short poem.» He begins experimenting with "poetry of movement, signs in rotation" culminating in Blanco. «Appearance, disappearance and reappearance of certain themes, presences, words, obsessions, the shape of Blanco is that of the spiral. There are two main currents—word and eroticism—that come together, separate and come together again. The text allows multiple readings: it is a cluster of meanings, a poem that contains several poems. ... The same poetic requirement governs the visual conception of the page and explains the particularities of this edition. Typesetting is one aspect of verbal composition. On the one hand, it is a kind of punctuation, not orthographic but rhythmic; on the other, it is the space where the written sign...
