About the Item

Introducing a stunning pair of Straccio ivory-colored full-grain leather lounge chairs designed by De Pas, D'Urbino, and Lomazzi for Zanotta in 1968. These iconic lounge chairs have been re-upholstered by an Italian artisan with full-grain leather, which is widely considered the highest quality leather available. De Pas, D'Urbino, and Lomazzi are renowned Italian designers known for their innovative and modernist approach to furniture design. Their partnership produced some of the most iconic furniture pieces of the 20th century, and the Straccio lounge chairs are no exception. Zanotta, the Italian furniture company that produced the Straccio lounge chairs, is a name synonymous with quality and design excellence. Founded in 1954, Zanotta has a rich history of collaborating with the world's leading designers and architects to create timeless furniture pieces that are both functional and beautiful. These lounge chairs are a true testament to Zanotta's commitment to quality and design innovation. The Straccio chairs were designed in 1968 and quickly became an icon of modern furniture design, with their sleek lines and curved forms. The chairs' re-upholstery with full-grain leather has given them new life, making them not only stunningly beautiful but also incredibly comfortable. Full-grain leather is known for its durability, softness, and natural beauty, making it the perfect material for high-end furniture pieces like the Straccio lounge chairs. Whether you're looking to add a touch of mid-century modern elegance to your home or office, these lounge chairs are the perfect addition. Their timeless design, combined with their high-quality materials and construction, ensure that they will be cherished for years to come. In summary, these Straccio lounge chairs are a true work of art, designed by De Pas, D'Urbino, and Lomazzi for Zanotta in 1968. Re-upholstered with full-grain leather by an Italian artisan, they are a rare find and a must-have for anyone who appreciates quality, design, and comfort. Don't miss out on the opportunity to add these stunning lounge chairs to your collection today. The chair will be shipped insured overseas in a custom made wooden crate. Cost of transport to the US, 1.850, is crate included. The designers were born in Milan in the 1930s. They have been partners in designing architecture, objects, installations and furnishings, as well as town planning, since 1966. During the 1960s they focused especially on temporary furniture and buildings featuring Avant Garde signs, materials and industrial technologies. They designed and built several inflatable houses for the Italian Pavilion at the Osaka World Expo and the 14th Milan Triennale. In 1972 they took part in the exhibit "Italy: The New Domestic Landscape" at New York's M.o.M.A. At the same time, through a host of installations they tested “borderline” creations standing between architecture and design, including installations for the exhibit "Italienische Möbel Design 1950/80" in Cologne. In 1979 they received the Compasso d'Oro award. Their works are owned by the major museums worldwide. Their production is portrayed in histories of Italian design and in the main international publications of this field. Besides the design activity they also made a theoretical contribution through the Industrial Design Association. They started their collaboration with Zanotta in 1966. Mr. De Pas died in 1991.
