About the Item

Extremely rare 'Little Beaver' chair designed by Frank Gehry, produced by Vitra in 1987. Comes with matching ottoman. Vitra plaques on underside of both pieces. Only 100 were made worldwide. Much rarer model in original red. Lots of wear as shown. Able to be used comfortably. Ottoman dimensions - 24" D x 20" W x 17" H Chair from the experimental corrugated cardboard series "Easy Edges", designed by Frank Gehry for Vitra, c. 1980s. This version is no longer in production. Gehry's experimentation with cardboard furniture grew from his extensive use of it in architectural models. To show the strength of the laminated cardboard Material, he famously photographed a Volkswagen Beetle supported on all four wheels with cardboard side chairs. He used a particular type of multi-layer corrugated cardboard, and stipulated its use in the production versions by Vitra. This version is from Vitra's earliest production, a long-time show sample and has been included in many exhibitions of modern design, and is velvety soft to the touch. Only one or two available for sale on the planet, and to our knowledge the only one in red.
