I’ve recently become attracted to roosters and chickens in general, and these regal characters are really great! This wall-hanging is depicted in the Tom Tru Spring wall scroll catalog for 1959. Attributed to Robert R. Bushong, although the signature on this one is missing the G. Since the signature is so close to the edge we believe the G just did not make it into the screen printing process. This example is what was advertised in the catalog as: powder, royal, sage, brown on black texture. Otherwise known as powder blue, royal blue, sage green, and brown. The imagery for this edition is derived in part from what Michael Bauer calls his “telephone drawings”—quick, loose sketches made while talking on the phone or otherwise distracted. Bauer saves these doodles, no matter how rough or silly, and uses them as raw materials to be copied, scanned, altered, and combined. Bauer often works in series, making groups of paintings that metaphorically “talk back” to one another while simultaneously standing on their own as individual works. As he says, “Every painting that I do relies on the last twenty I did.” In a neat literalization of his process, this print includes the words “baba” and “creme,” recurring terms Bauer uses as verbal readymades for their phonetic qualities and mutable meanings.
The amorphic, animalistic forms of German painter Michael Bauer are built upon color washes, meandering lines, and bulbous protrusions. Utilizing a variety of rendering techniques and materials, including pointillism, text and high-chroma colors, Bauer transforms his free-form compositions into dynamic and ornamented abstractions. He borrows from the colorful tradition of Modernist composition, juxtaposing collaged cutouts with a bevy of 20th century painting methodologies—including Cubist, Pop, and Surrealist techniques—to make the swirling paintings...

Cecilia’s is working with all geometrical forms, lines and shadows.

Her art characteristics are uniform geometrical shapes with pristine borders,
often in bold colours.
Born in Sweden in 1954, Cecilia Setterdahl has always been painting from Swedish
inspiration. Studied ascetics in High School and then went on to the Technical University of Lulea and graduated as a teacher. Moved to Stockholm and studied at the “Konstskolan” First exhibition 1988. Through a move to Neuchatel, Switzerland Cecilia continued her studies at the M-Art and Accademie Maximilien de Meuron. “Art Studio Bv5”, together with 4 other artists, she continued to work until moving to Dubai in 2015. Several part exhibitions in Neuchatel, Lausanne, Geneva, Brussels, London, New York, Hong Kong and Sweden.
In the United Arab Emirates she has exhibited both acrylic paintings and hand- made carpets at Downtown Design Dubai which is held yearly in Oct or Nov.
