Bulgari Contemporary Diamond Emerald Parure Suite

About the Item

It was 1963 in Italy on the set of Cleopatra when Richard Burton famously said, “I introduced Liz to beer, she introduced me to Bulgari,” referring to the film’s iconic star, Elizabeth Taylor. It was even rumored that Ms. Taylor had requested the Italian jewelry house to wait around the set with their latest collection, so she could go shopping in between takes. Founded in 1884 in Rome, Bulgari is known for voluminous forms, signature sunny shades of yellow gold, and vibrantly colored gemstones composed in curvaceous patterns. In the 1920s, however, their high jewelry creations reflected the design of traditional French Maisons, incorporating platinum and diamonds with stylized Art Deco design. This suite, made in Italy during the Contemporary Era, is reminiscent of the geometry of Bulgari’s early style brought into the modern age, with juicy floral patterns featuring a bounty of emeralds - inviting abundance, love, and good fortune to the wearer. Flowers have long been a favorite with the jewelry house, beginning with its en tremblant brooches, created in the 1950s and 1960s as well as with the Fiorever collection today, which draws inspiration from the four-petal flower venerated by the Romans as a symbol of happiness. This exquisite diamond and emerald parure suite is comprised of six related yet distinctive pieces - including necklace, bracelet, pair of earrings, large pin, and small pin. Each piece is a variation on a theme of concentric circles dotted with diamonds and variously decorated with five-petal emerald flowers. In its entirety, the parure suite evokes the renaissance of Spring, when fresh blooms are blown by gentle breezes. The necklace is the spettacolo or showstopper piece comprised of diamond-studded double circles, alternately decorated with emerald flowers and large diamonds, culminating in a large pendant with three emerald flowers and three large diamonds. The estimated weight of emeralds is 8.98 carats and diamonds 1.21 carats. The inner circles seem to float; however, they are cleverly fixed in place with large diamonds or emerald flowers. The necklace is 20" long, pendant is additionally 2" long, with a total gram weight of approx. 90.64 grams. The bracelet is the only piece of the suite that breaks the pattern: instead of double circles, diamond studded single circles alternate with six emerald flowers. The estimated weight of emeralds for the 8-inch (20.32 cm) bracelet is 18.99 carats and diamonds 4.51 carats, with a total gram weight of approx. 49.47 grams. The earrings feature diamond-studded double circles overlapped by two lovely emerald flowers and diamonds with an estimated carat weight of 5.94 carats. The earrings are clip back but can be enhanced to a post option for pierced ears. Measures approx. 1" x 0.8" (2.54 x 2 cm), with a total gram weight of approx. 23.06gr. Stamped 750; Made in Italy. The smaller of two pins is made with a double pinstem and exactly mirrors the pendant of the necklace, featuring three equidistant large diamonds and emerald flowers. 1.5" in diameter. The larger of two pins (2" in diameter) is made with a single long stick pin ideal for a hat, and features a delightful constellation of large and small emeralds peppered with diamonds, both pins totaling estimated weight 8.32 carats of emeralds and 1.2 carats diamonds. Approximate total gemstone weight in this 5-piece suite is 46 to 48 carats of emeralds, and 12 to 14 carats of diamonds; 208.77 grams overall weight; signed Bvlgari, stamped 750 and Made in Italy; circa 2000s.

Ambrosi Contemporary Gemstone Demi-Parure Suite
By Ambrosi
Located in New York, NY
Behold the exquisite Ambrosi Contemporary Gemstone Demi-Parure Suite, a testament to Italian artistry and sophistication, meticulously created in Italy during the contemporary era, circa the 21st century. This suite is a harmonious fusion of two captivating components: a double-strand riviere necklace and a pair of matching drop earrings, all meticulously crafted in 18kt white gold. At the heart of this demi-parure suite lies a concise yet profoundly elegant design, featuring two repeating motifs that dance in lyrical harmony. The necklace showcases a mesmerizing interplay of 28 hand-carved turquoise fans and 28 oval cabochon emeralds, gracefully arranged across two adjoined concentric strands. Each motif is meticulously encircled with a delicate halo of pavé diamonds, boasting an impressive total weight of approximately 7.18 carats. The turquoise fans and emerald ovals, occasionally joined and articulated, offer a unique fluidity to the design, allowing light to play across the gemstones in the most captivating manner. The accompanying drop earrings, measuring 1.5 inches (3.81 cm) in length, mirror this configuration with two distinctive variations. A third mirror image fan below the central motif adds a symmetrical touch, while the widthwise oval is gracefully rotated 90 degrees, elongating the silhouette for a striking effect. These earrings are designed as clip-back, with the option to be converted to post earrings for pierced ears, offering both convenience and elegance. Ambrosi, a venerable Italian jewelry...

Spectra Fine Jewelry Black Diamond Necklace Earrings Demi Parure Suite
By Spectra Fine Jewelry
Located in New York, NY
It may come as a surprise that many have argued black diamonds are much more rare than colorless diamonds. One in 10,000 natural diamonds is classed as fancy colored, and only a handful are truly black. Natural Black diamonds are somewhat different from most other diamonds in that they are entirely opaque. However, like colorless diamonds, black diamonds sparkle rainbow colors when their light is deflected to other surfaces. In other words, colors shoot from the diamond when direct sunlight hits the stone. Interestingly, black diamonds symbolize justice and inner strength while representing courage to stand out from the crowd. The carat weight of this Spectra Fine Jewelry Black Diamond Demi-Parure Suite is quite dazzling at an estimated 270 carats. The suite, made in the 21st century, circa 2010s, comprises two pieces—a necklace and a pair of button earrings. The 17.75-inch (45.08 cm) necklace is constructed like a classic strand of pearls, featuring a single knotted strand of 61 graduated black diamond faceted beads ranging in size from approximately 7.00 mm to 11.15 mm. The gross weight is 53.2 grams. The closure at the back is comprised of two parts crafted in 18K white gold—a round metal bead and a pop clasp that seamlessly integrates with the design. The necklace has the eye-catching elegance of a strand of Tahitian pearls, which are similarly more extensive, ranging from 8 mm to 11 mm, like these beads. This black diamond strand can be evaluated according to five of the seven value factors in evaluating pearls and earns 5 out of 5 exquisite marks in size, shape, color, surface quality, and matching, except luster and nacre quality, the substance from which pearls are made that determines luster. These black diamond faceted beads are much blacker and with subtly dramatic sparkle instead of luster. And, of course, they are diamonds with unique and extraordinary beauty, exuding drama and luxury. Although they are fully saturated stones, they still have that sparkle special only to diamonds, more so than other black stones like spinel or onyx. The lovely button earrings are crafted in 18K white gold with clip-back closures and measure .88 inches (2.22 cm) in length. The earrings feature a pair of faceted pear shape black diamonds bezel-set with the thinnest of outlines separating the principal stone from its lovely pear-shaped halo. The halo is comprised of round brilliant-cut black diamonds set with prongs. The gross weight of the earrings is 11.7 grams. The pear shape is classic, and its facets pick up the facets of the necklace. As a black diamond pear...
