Large Antique Wooden Carved Black Forest Baroque Stag Head with 10 Point Trophy
Located in Berghuelen, DE
Large Antique Wooden Carved Black Forest Baroque stag head with 10 Point Trophy A large antique Black Forest baroque stag head. Carved in typical abstract style of the early 18th century. It is mounted on a wooden carved and painted plaque with emblem and foliages and features a large real stag antler trophy. The head still has its original polycrome painted finish witch is partly restored. The left side of the plaque has been replaced. A great individual piece which enhances every wall decoration. A special way to present hunting trophies is to attach them to carved animal heads. This tradition exists since the Middle Ages. Even after intensive investigations, it is not yet possible to explain exactly how this happened. The carved heads are often colored and mounted on cartouches that are also carved and painted. They follow a naturalistic representation and one could think that in this way they are symbolically brought back from the abstraction of dead antlers into liveliness. Famous artists to be named are Madl in Ichenhausen, Germany and Heissl in Ebensee, Austria. Around 1900, the antler collection...

Elegant 1844 Lithograph of a Persian Woman in Traditional Attire
Located in Langweer, NL
This handcoloured lithograph titled "Femme Persane" vividly captures the traditional attire of a Persian woman, showcasing the rich cultural heritage and detailed craftsmanship of 19th-century Persia. The print is part of Auguste Wahlen's "Moeurs, Usages et Costumes de tous les Peuples de Monde," published in 1844 in Paris. The image stands out for its intricate detailing, especially the veil and robe, which are adorned with elaborate patterns and vibrant colors typical of Persian fashion. The woman's attire includes a veil that covers the face partially, known as a "ruband," which was commonly worn in public by women in some regions of Persia as a sign of modesty and status. Her robe, layered and colorful, reflects the sophisticated textile techniques of the time, including embroidery and fabric dyeing, which were highly regarded skills in Persian society. The attractiveness of such prints lies in their ability to convey the elegance and intricacy of Persian women's fashion, providing a window into the everyday life and social customs of the time. The use of handcoloured lithography, a popular printing technique of the era, allows for vivid coloration and detailed representation, making these prints highly desirable for collectors and enthusiasts of historical fashion and cultural heritage. Keywords: - Antique Persian prints...

Located in Langweer, NL
Dace and Chub - Graceful Scandinavian Freshwater Fish Lithograph This elegant 19th-century lithograph from *Skandinaviens Fiskar* features three iconic freshwater fish species of Scandinavia: the Ide (Leuciscus idus), the Graining (Leuciscus grislagine), and the European Chub (Leuciscus cephalus). Beautifully illustrated by Wilhelm von Wright and published by P. A. Norstedt & Söners Förlag in Stockholm, this plate is an exquisite example of both scientific accuracy and artistic craftsmanship. At the top, the Ide (Leuciscus idus) is depicted with its slender, torpedo-shaped body and metallic, silver-gray scales, giving it a sleek and dynamic appearance. The slight golden hue along the lateral line and the soft pinkish tint of the fins are meticulously rendered, capturing the fish’s natural vibrancy. The Ide is a resilient and adaptable species, inhabiting rivers and lakes throughout northern Europe. It is prized both as a food fish...

Botanical Elegance: A Triptych of Garden and Greenhouse Splendors, 1896
Located in Langweer, NL
"Botanical Elegance: A Triptych of Garden and Greenhouse Splendors" Delight in the timeless allure of nature with our exquisite set of three original antique prints, "Botanical Elegance: A Triptych of Garden and Greenhouse Splendors". Culled from the esteemed 1896 publication "Favourite Flowers of Garden and Greenhouse" by Edward Step, these botanical illustrations epitomize the pinnacle of Victorian floral artistry. Each print showcases a different beloved species, rendered in precise detail and subtle hues. The selection includes the stately Hybrid Larkspur (Delphinium), the charming Larkspurs (Delphinium ajacis and Delphinium orientale), and the enchanting Columbines (Aquilegia vulgaris, Aquilegia chrysantha, and Aquilegia formosa), all depicted in their natural size to capture their true beauty. These prints are not mere reproductions; they are original works from the late 19th century, utilizing lithography—a technique that was the height of printing technology at the time. The meticulous hand-coloring applied after the initial printing process brings out the vibrant yet delicate colors of these florals, making each piece unique.
