Extra Wide Fully Restored Victorian Platform All Brass Antique Bed, Circa 1895
Located in Wrexham, GB
An attractive 6ft wide (72 inches) all brass antique platform bed, adapted from an original Victorian frame, circa 1895, with generous proportions providing a sense of spacious luxury. This elegant antique bed is an exceptional example of Victorian-era craftsmanship, with the head panel constructed entirely from solid brass, and solid brass posts and feet. Being a platform bed with no footboard, this bed is perfect for a smaller bedroom, or if you wish to create an open aspect, and is suitable for both period properties and more contemporary interiors. The brass has been recently polished but will fade in time giving a rich mellow hue. It is preferable to leave the brass to naturally tarnish rather than artificially lacquering or ageing. This way the brass can be lightly polished if you wish, or left to age naturally. A rare and timeless piece, this Victorian brass antique bed represents an outstanding opportunity to acquire a true statement of heritage and enduring style. Built to accommodate a UK Super King or Californian King 72 inch wide base and mattress, this antique brass bed...

Walt Disney 'Bambi' Original Vintage Movie Poster, Japanese, 1957
Located in Devon, GB
An incredibly rare and charming B2 poster for a 1957 Japanese re-release of the beloved Walt Disney classic 'Bambi.' The touching tale of a young fawn destined to be Prince of the Forest was the fifth feature-length animated picture to be released by Disney and was critically acclaimed for its graceful animation and lush hand painted forest scenes. Generations of viewers might cite the shocking death of Bambi’s mother at the hands of an anonymous hunter, symbolizing Man's cruel destruction of nature, as their lasting association with the film, yet the story endures as a celebration of life and the cycle of nature. In 2008, the American film Institute named Bambi the third best film in the animation genre. Featuring a lush full-bleed forest scene from the animation, this delightful poster was issued for a dubbed 1957 re-release, following the first Japanese release of the film in 1951, when Hollywood films were screened widely throughout the country during the US occupation. Along with 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,' the feature length Disney animation had a marked influence on a generation of Japanese animators, most notably the "Father of Manga" Osamu Tezuka...

Vintage Kilim Rug Pillow with Irish Linen by Katie Larmour Cushions Orange Blue
Located in Belfast, Northern Ireland
Luxury pillow created from an exquisite piece of vintage kilim rug combined with Irish Linen by Irish designer Katie Larmour. Unique and one-of-a-kind. Featuring geometric shapes in orange, blue and rust and a soft pastel lilac. Each cushion is constructed in Ireland. Filled with a new, custom-made, plush duck feather insert, lined in organic cotton, and finished with a concealed zip. Backed in new natural undyed Irish linen on the reverse. Irish Linen is highly regarded worldwide, known since the turn-of-the-century as ‘white gold’ and the ultimate ‘aristocrat of textiles’. Katie Larmour is an associate member of The Irish Linen Guild and highlighted as a ‘recommended purveyor of Irish Linen goods’ by the guild on their official website. Katie is an ambassador The European Confederation of Flax and Hemp (CELC). Katie Larmour’s Studio are renowned for their high end creations. Please note the nature of linen is that the surface may contain ‘slubs’, this is to do with the weaving process, and the fragment of vintage rug may contain blemishes, pieces stitched together and other ‘flaws’ that are to be expected. We feel these add to the textile’s character and charm, it is the nature of the natural fabric and pre-owned past and we ask you to take this into consideration before ordering. We have a large collection of unique cushions listed here on 1stdibs, from one-of-a-kind vintage designer silk scarf...

Map Holy Land La Terre Sainte Engraved van Loon Published N de Fer 1703 French
Located in BUNGAY, SUFFOLK
La Terre Sainte, The Holy Land, Tiree Des Memoires De M.De.La Rue. Par N. de Fer. Geographe de Sa Majeste Catoliq et de Monseigneur le Dauphin. Avec Privil du Roi 1703 Detailed map of the Holy Land from Nicholas de Fer's L'Atlas Curieux ou le Monde. East is oriented at the top. MAKER Nicolas de Fer 1646-1720 The French cartographer and engraver, Nicolas de Fer, was a master at creating maps that were works of art. The maps that he published were printed during the Baroque period when the decorative arts were characterized by ornate detail. De Fer’s detailed maps and atlases were valued more for their decorative content than their geographical accuracy. Nicolas de Fer was born in 1646. His father, Antoine de Fer, owned a mapmaking firm. At the age of twelve, Nicolas was apprenticed to a Parisian engraver named Louis Spirinx. The family business was starting to decline when his father died in 1673. Nicolas de Fer’s mother, Genevieve, took over the business after the death of her husband. In 1687 the business was passed on to Nicolas and the profits increased after he took over the firm. Nicolas de Fer was a prolific cartographer who produced atlases and hundreds of single maps. He eventually became the official geographer to King Louis XIV of France and King Philip V...

In 1934, he designed the new layout of the Brasserie Carlton on the Champs Elysées and found immediate success, embarking upon an international career that was to endure for nearly half a century.
