The company’s aim was to revolutionise the furniture industry within France offering the consumer a cutting edge product and retail experience. Prisunic editions sold its futuristic designs often from moulded plastic and fiberglass through a catalogue. Their approach was guided by a desire to create impactful design that was affordable to the masses. Their project attracted highly regarded designers from across Europe such as Marc Held, Gae Aulenti and Terence Conran.
This chair’s form is very much a consequence of the moulding process employed. The chairs soft undulating curves are not an aesthetic decision per se but in fact the result of engineering. The wooden frame is really eye catching; the organic shape frame is divided into three parts, with beautiful rounded edges and curves. There are some minor marks of wear and age, normal in a vintage piece, but frame is in excellent condition.
The slightly angled back and seating appear to float on the frame.

The Finnish word jää has two meanings; ‘ice’ and ‘please stay’ - a perfect word for sustainable pieces of design.
Our inspiration for the Jää furniture came initially from the beautiful and practical nature of the recycled plastic and its environmentally friendly credentials. Through the design and use of materials, we wanted to show that recycled plastic furniture can be bold, desirable, and aesthetically pleasing. The Jää furniture is made out of 100% recycled post-consumer plastic - pure waste that has been diverted from landfills. The
furniture is made in Britain with a mixture of polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) plastic shapes with small custom-made polished aluminium spacers and nuts.
Further, the Jää designs are also fully recyclable contributing to the circular economy.
The Jää pieces are sculptural, multifunctional, and adaptable designs suitable for both indoors and outdoors in public and private spaces. Handmade to order in the UK.
Measures: 73 cm wide x 70 cm high x 80 cm deep.
