Robert Hightower is inspired by the work of Giotto, Hieronymus Bosch, Jean-François Millet, Roger Brown, Howard Arkley and Julian Opie.
This piece is a part of a special immersive gallery installation, “The Apocalypse Simulacra,” which is a narrative presentation of the twilight of humanity, at the fulcrum of extinction by Atlanta-based artist Robert Hightower. Through stage-set constructions, readymade plastic models and paintings, Hightower investigates the duality of right/wrong, good/bad, eternal/ephemeral in light of the imminent end of the Human Epoch. It depicts the ideological origins of corporate greed and power, the reality of wealth distribution in the “American Dream,” and the socio-economic and environmental impacts of that collective greed. After receiving a BFA in sculpture from the University of Georgia, Hightower moved to New York City and participated in The Bronx Museum of the Art’s AIM Fellowship (Artist In the Marketplace). While in New York, his interests expanded to include art installation and the creation of spaces, and has since designed and built many unique homes, penthouses and restaurants throughout the United States. Hightower has returned home to Atlanta and will be presenting his most comprehensive body of work to date, “The Apocalypse Simulacra,” a unique universe of beauty, dichotomy and uncertainty.
ARTIST STATEMENT
The 'Apocalypse Simulacra' is a presentation of the twilight of humanity, at the fulcrum of extinction.
The climate is the subject. The Simulacra is the Theme. First discussed by Plato, the Simulacra is the search for Truth in Duality. Developing into Post-Modernism with Nietzsche’s: truth=Truth. Now with Bauvillard, the Simulacra has evolved beyond Post-Modernism, into the wholesale confusion of the real/fake, the true/false… between reality and hyper-reality. This crumbling, confusing of the truth (not necessarily the Truth) is our Reality.
For over two decades, I have created large format paintings of strip malls, suburban houses and toys. These paintings present singular images flattened-out (almost floating) on color-fields. They create a certain duality - a loving portrait of an inanimate object that would not normally be singled-out for affection. With my latest work, I have added a variety of iconic images: an airplane, a whisky bottle, a woman floating in a pool. The icons are presented in a pixelated or degenerated state. In addition to paintings, I have used adult-size building blocks to create sculptures or three-dimensional paintings. Using a child's toy at an adult-scale gives the building blocks an austere and powerful presence. The building blocks echo the blocks of the pixelated paintings...

Dominique Mulhem was born in Neuilly-sur-Seine June 13, 1952.
1975: Training at the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
His painting refers to pop culture and art Ownership (art) by his inspiration. His technique was initially very pop art with the use of the bomb and stencils and more hyperrealistic with airbrushing to become a modern pointillism.
It was the first multimedia artist inventing in 1979 the holopeinture where he mixed paint holography. He had to work in the early 70s on the different 3D rendering techniques.
Beyond its highly representative form, his painting is primarily conceptual. The themes are the lives of people and things, without limit in treated subjects. All the work of Dominique Mulhem has the same theme : the concept of simultaneous vision. “The look from inside” as Pierre Restany said.

Amir Baradaran is a New York-based Iranian-Canadian ARtificial artist. As the Arts-Based Creative Research Associate and Adjunct Faculty at Columbia University School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Baradaran is developing iBegoo, a multi-user software that supports artists with limited knowledge of game design and programing by streamlining and automating the process of writing for, directing, and producing interactive Augmented Reality (AR) experiences that include responsive characters enabled with Artificial Intelligence (AI). Baradaran is the recipient of the Knight Foundation Arts Award, Canada Council for the Arts New-Chapter & 150th Anniversary Prize, UC Berkeley Artist Residency (from Center for Critical Theory, New Media, Race and Gender Studies), International Symposium on Mixed and Augmented Reality Future of Augmented Reality Prize, and Morgan Stanley Pulse Art Fair grant. As a researcher at Columbia University Computer Graphics and User Interfaces Lab and a member of the School of the Arts Digital Storytelling Lab, Baradaran’s praxis and writings focus on a critical {AR}ticulation of visual vocabularies that use AR and AI technologies around notions of interactivity, non-linear narrative formation, po{AI}try, data-mining, failed utopias, racialized and gendered bodies, infiltration, and the ephemeral. Baradaran is a TEDx speaker, and an invited presenter to His Holiness Dalai Lama’s World Headquarters in Dharamsala for the Summit on Fostering Universal Ethics and Compassion through Museums. Baradaran is the co-author of the chapter Augmenting Empathy and Decolonizing AR/VR Mediums: How Do We Reimagine Augmented and Virtual Reality Experiences?” (Ed. By Gokcigdem, 2019), the author of While Data Privacy Talks, Capitalism Walks: Urging for a Critical Take on the Artificial Intelligence Ecosystem, and the Rise of the Machine (Ed. Archer creates his master pieces via the exploration of liquid animation, quintessentially a process of manipulating wet paint into more wet paint. You meet the Spanish artist Alexandro Santana and you think, cripes, can he be for real? So handsome, so flamboyant, so seductive, so amusing -- you’re not sure whether it’s intentional or inadvertent. And then you discover he is the son of a notorious Dominican admiral, that the tyrannical dictator Trujillo was best man at his parents’ wedding, that his mother was a fabled high-society beauty, that he grew up on battleships and estancias before going, inevitably, to Brown.
Even more surprisingly, Santana stayed in Providence for graduate studies at the Rhode Island School of Design, where he received his degree in architecture, soon plying his trade in Manhattan and his adopted city of Savannah, where he eventually set up his own firm. Astonishingly, in this era of CAD, he draws every detail entirely by hand.
Considering his tweeds, his bow ties, his drawl and debonair dress, it is perhaps not surprising to learn that Santana’s architectural taste is strongly neo-classical, inspired by the vernacular Palladianism of antebellum Georgia, with of course a touch of the Postmodern.
Santana’s detailed and decorous architectural plans for his clients are complemented by drawings created for solely for himself -- exotic imaginary cityscapes and urban fantasias, like the dreams of Sir John Soane channeled through Aldo Rossi or John Hejduk...
