17th Century Still Life with Birds Painting Oil on Canvas by Victors
By Jacobus Victors
Located in Milan, IT
Attr. Jacobus or Iacomo Victors (Amsterdam c. 1640 - 1705) Still life with birds Oil on canvas, 112 x 133 cm The still life examined here is a rare example of the simultaneous presence of live and dead animals in a single composition. On two rocky levels different ornithological species are neatly arranged, reproduced with the utmost fidelity and adherence to life. Mallards, doves, sparrows and a partridge placed on their backs can be recognized. The soft mantles with different chromatic tones, with the characteristic streaks and spots of color, together with the precise investigation of the various ornithological typologies, denote an observation of the real datum typical of the seventeenth-century Flemish tradition. Another mallard, this time alive, seems to have just settled on the rock, as if to observe the rich composition moving its neck. Its characteristic colors, the bright green of the head and the upper part of the neck, the yellow of the beak and the orange of the legs characterize the painting and capture the viewer's attention. The flight of the dove in the foreground is splendid, seen from above, the virtuosic pose and the brightness of its feathers, in an elegant modulation of grays tending to white, denote the stylistic quality of this work. It was probably created by a Flemish artist working in Italy in the second half of the seventeenth century: close analogies can be found with the game of Jacobus Victor...

Italian Black and White Carrara Marble Mosaic Tiles with Florentine Monuments
Located in Firenze, IT
In the present work small handcut tiles of pure white Carrara marble are the background of this interesting contemporary mosaic which represents one of the most celebrated landmark in Florence. The facade of the church of Santo Spirito (Holy Spirit), designed and built by Brunelleschi, is created with precious beige-colored Botticino marble tiles and surrounded by a frame of small black glass glazed paste tiles. Carrara and Botticino are among the most famous Tuscan marbles that’s why the local mosaic artist and craftswoman- who creates this superb work of art- decided that the mosaic featuring the most important symbol of Florence should be made of these materials. To make the composition more interesting, two different types of Carrara marble were used: the statuary white marble is matte and the white Carrara marble called "zuccherino" (sugary) is more sparkling. The random alternation of these two marbles give a pleasant vivid and three-dimensional effect to the entire mosaic tile. Each small rectangular and squared tesserae are hand cutted and each one of these mosaic is one of a kind. The mosaic plaque has a wood panel as support and the tile is housed in hand painted giltwood frame. The tile on sale and immediately available now is 15x15 cm and reproduces the church of Santo Spirito (Holy Spirit)- as you can see in the main image- but many other mosaic with the most important symbols and monuments of Florence are available as the Old Bridge, Santa Maria Novella, Florence's Cathedral with the Brunelleschi's dome or the Lily symbol of the city and so on, as showed in the photos. These white and black marble mosaic tiles...

16th Century Adoration of the Shepherds Painting Oil on Copper by Carnevale
By Carnevale Studio
Located in Milan, IT
Domenico Carnevale (Sassuolo, 1524 - Modena, 1579) Adoration of the Shepherds Oil on copper, 42 x 28 cm Frame 54 x 36 cm Expert opinion of Prof. Emilio Negro The painting represents the Adoration of the Shepherds, the Child in the center, next to the Madonna kneeling in prayer and an angel behind her; towards him in the foreground a woman with a child in her arms, a shepherd with a sheep on the right, a bagpiper on the left and various other male and female characters turn to him. The architectures of the background, between which a glimpse of the landscape can be glimpsed, are hidden in the upper part by the clouds, where a "celestial glory" encamps with three flying angels. The painting shows mannerist characters that can be traced back to the second half of the sixteenth century, and can be traced back to an author from the Modena area, with stylistic references to the Bolognese Samacchini (1532 - 1577) and Passerotti (1529 - 1592). More precisely, it can be attributed to Domenico Carnevale (1524-1579), one of the most important masters of the sixteenth century active in the local area. The Carnival was formed in Emilia, his homeland, where he worked for many years. However, his works also show a clear Roman influence, dictated by a long experience in the city, during which he also dedicated himself to the restoration of the Sistine Chapel. Trained in the late-mannerist environment of Modena, he is also linked to the Parmesan Corrorese and Ferrarese Dossesque tradition; Carnival also always maintains a slight archaic sentiment in his work, The main stylistic reference must be identified in a work similar in subject and iconographic setting, coming from the church of the Pio Istituto Orfanelle di San Geminiano di Modena, currently part of the Art Collection of the Province, attributed to the same influence as the Carnival. Another interesting comparison should be identified with A Presentation of Jesus in the Temple...

1980s Signed Mario Schifano Artwork on Paper

Materic silkscreen print “Ondate di gelo” (Frost Waves) by Mario Schifano. Signature and numbering in pencil on front side. Dry stamp of the artist on front. Edition F.C. (Not for sale) 23/30. Framed work. The artwork for sale is part of the collection 'Best Seller: 31 graphic works by Mario Schifano' edited by Edizioni Torcular Edition on handmade paper with Torcular watermark by Cartiera Magnani of Pescia Printer: Egiziano Piersantini This artwork, never before on the market, comes from a private collection and is beautified by an impressive original frame in natural wood, in almost perfect condition. The painting is also protected by glass Every item of our Gallery, upon request, is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity issued by Sabrina Egidi official Expert in Italian furniture for the Chamber of Commerce of Rome and for the Rome Civil Courts. Mario Schifano (Homs 1934 - 1998) was an Italian painter and filmmaker. Together with Franco Angeli and Tano Festa he represented a fundamental point of Italian and European Pop Art. Perfectly integrated in the international cultural scene of the 1960s, he was reputed to be a prolific, exuberant and drug-addicted artist. A keen student of new painting techniques, he was among the first to use computers to create works and was able to process images from the computer and transfer them onto emulsified canvases. Mario Schifano was born in Italian Libya and after the end of the war returned to Rome where, due to his restless personality, he left school early to follow in his father's footsteps who worked at the Etruscan museum of Villa Giulia as an archaeologist and restorer. Thanks to this experience, he approached art, initially producing works that were influenced by Informal Art. His first solo exhibition was at the Galleria Appia Antica in Rome in 1959. In the late 1950s, he participated in the artistic movement Scuola di Piazza del Popolo together with artists such as Francesco Lo Savio, Mimmo Rotella, Giuseppe Uncini, Giosetta Fioroni, Tano Festa and Franco Angeli. The group met at Caffè Rosati, a Roman café then frequented by Pier Paolo Pasolini, Alberto Moravia and Federico Fellini, among others, and located in Piazza del Popolo, from which they took their name. In 1960, the group's works were exhibited in a group show at Galleria La Salita. In 1961 he exhibited in a solo show at Galleria La Tartarugadi Plinio De Martiis in Rome. In the meantime, he had met, among others, his future lover Anita Pallenberg at the Caffè Rosati, with whom he made his first trip to New York in 1962, where he came into contact with Andy Warhol and Gerard Malanga at the Factory. During this period he participated in the New Realists exhibition at the Sidney Janis Gallery, a group show that included most of the young artists of Pop art and Nouveau Réalisme, including Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein. He then had the opportunity to participate in the New York social scene, which led to his first experiments with LSD.[6] On his return from New York, after participating in exhibitions in Rome, Paris and Milan, he took part in the XXXII International Art Exhibition in Venice in 1964. During this period, his paintings defined as 'Anemic Landscapes', in which it is memory that evokes the representation of nature with small details or allusive inscriptions, and the reinterpretations of art history that later led to his famous pictorial works on futurism appear in embryo. In Rome, he met and frequented Marco Ferreri and Giuseppe Ungaretti to whom, already in his 80s, he offered an evening at Peyote. But one of the acquaintances of this period that most influenced him was that with Ettore Rosboch, with whom he formed a deep friendship, based on a shared passion for music. In those years, also thanks to their constant trips to London, the two became friends with the Rolling Stones, to whom they introduced Anita Pallenberg, who in 1965 began a relationship with Brian Jones, and years later became Keith Richards' partner. In 1969, the flat in Piazza in Piscinula in Rome that then belonged to Schifano was used by Ferreri as the set for the film Dillinger is Dead, on the walls of which some of the artist's paintings can be seen. In 1969, the Rolling Stones dedicated the song Monkey Man to Mario Schifano. In 1971 some of his paintings were included by Achille Bonito Oliva in the exhibition Vitalità nel negativo nell'arte italiana 1960/70. Many of his works, the so-called 'monochromes', present only one or two colours, applied on wrapping paper glued on canvas. The influence of Jasper Johns was manifested in the use of numbers or isolated letters of the alphabet, but in Schifano's way of painting analogies can be traced to the work of Robert Rauschenberg. In a painting from 1960, one can read the word 'no' painted with drips of colour in large capital letters, as in a wall graffiti. The influence of Pop art can be seen in all the artistic production of Mario Schifano, who was fascinated by new technologies, advertising, music, photography and experimentation. In particular, the artist's closest works to Pop Art are those of the 1980s. Among the most important works of this period are the Propagande, a series dedicated to advertising brands (Coca-Cola and Esso) in which we have a clear example of the conveyance of commonly used and easily recognisable images quoted in multiple ways or details of them, bicycles, flowers and nature in general (among the most famous series are the Paesaggi anemici, Vedute interrotte, L'albero della vita...

Bronzino by Alessandro Zambelli
By Alessandro Zambelli
Located in Geneve, CH
Bronzino by Alessandro Zambelli Dimensions: D 28 x W 6 x H 21 cm Materials: Solid Casting Bronze. Also available in different dimensions and in sets. Please contact us for more information. This essential yet precious collection is highly refined in its clear, defined lines: a series of small bronze sculptures which are able to combine typical renaissance taste in terms of perfection of form, with the minimalist aesthetic refinement of the Art Deco movement. A series of small home furnishing accessories in which a collection of flowing lines, at times clean and linear, at times softer and more rounded, follow after each other to delineate original geometric surfaces. Their mirror-like finish gives back glimpses of images, light and colours to the environment. in a skilful game of perfect formal harmony which seems embellished, and at the same time accentuated, by the metal's shininess. /Bron-zì-no/ Created following Donatello's wonderful work on the Pontifical Basilica of Saint Anthony of Padua, and popularised during the renaissance as an expression of admiration for antiquity, bronzetti are small bronze objects - small-scale reproductions of classical sculptures and bas-reliefs - or, more simply, objects created with the function of picchiotti, the door knockers which had been placed at the entrances to noble residences since ancient times. Lorem ipsum. Alessandro Zambelli Alessandro Zambelli lives and works in Mantua, Italy.
