Handsome pair of watercolor paintings each depicting a different winter landscape by Dorothy M. Reece Kordash. They are in wonderful vintage condition and in their original frames. Please see photos, circa 1970s-1980s. Wow! We are proud to be able to offer this gorgeous pair of winter landscapes by Dorothy Kordash. The one on the left in our photograph is titled Designs of Winter and depicts a lovely snowy landscape with bare trees and snow-covered grasses in beautiful translucent steel blues and grays and white. It is signed, matted and framed. The watercolor on the right is titled Treescape and depicts an icy blue winter wonderland of bare trees, evergreens, and grasses. These came from a home filled with incredible mid-century modern furnishings and art. They collected many Kansas and Arizona artists work including these by Dorothy Kordash. Dorothy M. Reece Kordash was born in 1927 in Prairie Village, Kansas. She continued to live, and work in the Kansas City area. However, after retiring, she spent quite a bit of time in Scottsdale, Arizona where she passed in 2010. Her works are in private collections all over the United States. Her obituary states she was one of America’s top cutting-edge artists in the field of contemporary conceptual art and painted in a wide variety of media. She was a member of many organizations including the Kansas Watercolor Society and International Society of Experimental Artists to name just two. Incredible impressionist style painting on hardboard of children on horseback signed Brooks Woollcott (now Powell). It is in good original condition with its original black painted wood frame. We have stabilized the frame and added a new coat of paint, circa 1940-1960s. This original impressionistic painting has the most extraordinary color pallet from pink to coral, turquoise to blue, green to chartreuse, and bright yellow with touches of black. It depicts two children, seemingly a girl and boy, on horseback. It is done in the style of Chagall with a little Picasso and Matisse thrown in. It also has a feel of Margaret Keane and her Big Eyes paintings...

Wonderful Mid-Century Modern silkscreen wall scroll titled Chanticleer by Robert R. Bushong for Tom Tru and distributed by Raymor. It is in fantastic vintage condition and circa 1959. I’ve recently become attracted to roosters and chickens in general, and these regal characters are really great! This wall-hanging is depicted in the Tom Tru Spring wall scroll catalog for 1959. Attributed to Robert R. Bushong, although the signature on this one is missing the G. Since the signature is so close to the edge we believe the G just did not make it into the screen printing process. This example is what was advertised in the catalog as: powder, royal, sage, brown on black texture. Otherwise known as powder blue, royal blue, sage green, and brown. Its solid walnut top and bottom mouldings are just beautiful as are these fantastic chanticleer, the name for roosters especially in fairy tales. Robert Bushong...
