This archival haute couture runway documented dress was designed by Raf Simons for Christian Dior Spring 2014 Couture (look 21/35). The collection was the result of Raf pondering what Christian Dior himself would have designed had he been at the helm of his business in the 1960s, whilst also bringing Raf’s modernist aesthetic to the fashion house. This 1990s Bellville Sassoon floor-length dress is crafted from an amalgamation of beautiful fabrics. The flattering, bias-cut body and skirt are tailored from devoré cloth, showcasing sheer aubergine crepe detailed with velvet patterned with autumnal-hued paisley. The bodice is made from a sheer mesh and is adorned with hundreds of beads in hues picked out from the paisley across the skirt. This beadwork forms a lattice and is finished with swirling paisley shapes that mirror the patterns further down the dress. The bodice has an asymmetric cut with one beaded shoulder and one sleeve tailored from aubergine chiffon and burgundy mesh. The bodice is boned the whole way around, which cinches the waist and flatters the bust; it is lined at the front but at the back remains sheer, meaning that the beads appear to adorn the skin. This is hands down the best Bellville Sassoon design we have ever had in Circa's collection and this whimsical dress is lined with crimson satin to the floor. The label reads “Bellville Sassoon Lorcan Mullany”. Made in England and in excellent vintage condition with no flaws of any note and looks barely worn. It is labelled a UK size 10 or US 6 but sizes vary hugely between vintage brands, so please check our measurements below. There is no composition label and the fabric has no stretch. This important spring / summer 1987 runway documented Alaïa swimsuit is tailored from a stretch-cloth with a satin-like sheen. The green-gold pewter shade became a signature of the house. It is cut to a bra-like shape at the front and is underwired. There are wide, supportive straps. The back is lower, cut with curved seams to pull in the waist. This is where Alaïa’s talents lay; cutting to flatter the female form. The stitching is tonal and the swimsuit is unlined, except at the gusset which we have replaced so it is brand new cotton. This one-piece is in excellent vintage condition with no flaws and looks barely worn. The fabric is 70% Polyamide; 30% Elastane. There is no size label so please check our measurements below - the cloth has plenty of stretch so please allow some degree of flexibility.
