A sublime and rare pair of Chinese white glazed porcelain figures of Guanyin, attributed to Tang Ying (1682 - 1756), Qing Dynasty, Qianlong Period, China.
This ethereal pair of white glazed porcelain figures depict the revered Buddhist Goddess of Mercy, Guanyin. Guanyin is portrayed standing, wearing heavy robes that drape beautifully around her figure. Bare feet peek out from under the hem of the robes. Her hair piled in a high chignon and covered by a cowl. The treatment of the hair, finely textured, unglazed, and with remnants of darker pigment, is typical of works by Tang Yin (1682 - 1756), who was the head of the imperial porcelain works at Jingdezhen.
Guanyin's beatific face is set in a serene smile, with a small, flat nose, and downcast, heavily lidded, almond shaped eyes. A simple beaded necklace graces her chest. Her hands held out, and may have once held attributes.
The hands were originally removable, but have since been permanently attached.
The figures crafted of a fine porcelain and glazed all over in a supple white glaze.
One figure bears a label from the Rafi Mottahedeh collection to the back.

Guanyin, the Bodhisattva of Compassion and Mercy, is portrayed seated in dhyanasana, one hand raised in viktara mudra, the gesture of teaching and discourse.
The great bodhisattva is dressed in heavy, loose robes tied at the chest, with a mantle draped over his shoulders. He looks serenely outwards from heavily lidded eyes. Guanyin's face carved beautifully with somewhat feminine features. A large five pointed crown sits upon his head. The larger leaves of the crown carved with indistinct images of the Buddha.

Exceedingly rare Chinese pottery caparisoned horse from the Northern Qi region.
A beautiful sculptural piece, created in China during the Northern Qi dynasty period, between the 549 and 577 AD. This horse statue is extremely finely modeled of earthenware pottery, standing in a very elegant and majestic position striding on a trapezoidal shaped base.
The animal has a gracefully arched neck to the left and its extremely well modeled. The head is adorned with a large detailed tassels of plumes and the body is embellished with a beautiful saddle and intricate harnesses. The trapping around the chest and rump is adorned with elaborated tassels and the straps are accented with multiples florets and bosses in high relief.
The surface is treated with applications of natural pigments such; red, white and others.
Has a measurements of 394 mm by 343 mm by 257 mm (15.53 x 13.52 x 10.15 Inches) (39.4 x 34.3 x 25.7 Cm).

Finest Quality Dreamstone Inlaid Chair
China- an extraordinary prolifically crafted example of an antique hand carved hardwood chair inlaid with multiple natural dream stone "paintings" plus "butterfly and mother of pearl" inlays in its hardwood arms and seat, late 19th century.
This type of old Chinese furniture art form with marble inlay is centuries of years old dating as far back as the Ming dynasty (1368-1644).
Fine round and rectangular dream stones depicting mountains and the natural outdoor scenery are inlaid in the seat, back and interior sides of this fine furniture example. Thin marble inlaid stone "paintings" are approximately 1/4" thick and are cut from a large slab of rough material revealing incredible patterns in soft white and gray colors. The hardwood (elmwood) frame is tenon joined. The natural stone "paintings" were hand especially for fine export chairs as in this example.

A warrior is one who sacrifices himself for the good of others. His task is to take care of the elderly, the defenseless, those who cannot provide for themselves, and above all, children- the future of humanity. This is a magnificent vintage Chinese warrior or Guan Yu sculpture comprised of stunning rosewood with intricately hand carved details and a removeable guandao (Chinese pole weapon). In Chinese culture, General Guan Yu represents loyalty and valor. People believe that by having his image in art or sculpture in their home will protect their family from harm. And while we don’t believe he is going to break out with any actual martial arts moves; his fearless presence commands the room and demands attention! You may notice that in some of the photos our warrior friend is holding his guandao upside-down, don’t judge! Even the best of warriors tend to get exhausted from a long day of defending humanity and protecting mankind. A guy can get a little turned around! Just look at his expression… he is OVER it!! His hand is even up gesturing as if to say, “Talk to the hand!” LOL!! He is handsomely dressed from head to toe in full body armor and his long beard or Fu Manchu is flowing in the breeze.
