Rare Antique Set of 10 Pharmacy Bottles Apothecary Glass with Gold Leaf
Located in Belfast, Northern Ireland
Title: Rare antique set of 10 pharmacy bottles apothecary glass with gold leaf Beautiful set of ten pharmaceutical bottles, circa 1900 originally from a chemists in Northern Ireland. Note the exquisite gold leaf framed labels which make them real collectors items (and add value). These elegant bottles lined pharmacy shelves until the late 1920s. We’ve selected the bottles with the most attractive and desirable titles as well as pretty finish and in a variety of sizes and assorted top designs to compliment each other. The rounded stoppers are hand blown glass making them more valuable than the others due to it’s finer craftsmanship, the plain chisel top designs are elegant and feel extremely tackle to the touch fitting perfectly with ones thumb, with some finished with superb hand cut edges which are more labor intensive specimens, and almost reminiscent of a perfume bottle. The shorthand Latin (some ancient Greek) names for these botanical delights gives more detail to be admired. They are all empty but some have a wonderful slight residue of its past contents lining the inside of the bottle. Unusual and stunning treasure as a unique feature to accessorise your interior just as fragrance bottles and cosmetic jars would. Works wonderfully as a collection lined up in a stylish bathroom whether traditional or contemporary (see photo of a collection on an antique marble Georgian washstand...

Arts & Crafts Scarab Vase by Adelaide Alsop Robineau
Located in Chicago, US

While standard parcel services are an option, the default quote does not include packing and insurance. 1stDibs shipping provides a level of value, protection, and care that aligns with our commitment to safeguarding historic artworks and providing excellent client service. “A Robineau vase is a true work of art, unique in conception and perfect in execution, for every piece that left this studio was a labor of love.” – Ethel Brand Wise, The American Magazine of Art, 1929 Adelaide Alsop Robineau was a pioneer in American studio ceramics and excelled as an innovator in pottery both technically and aesthetically. As a young woman of high society in the late Victorian era, she gained early accolades as a skilled watercolorist and china painter and taught for a time at St. Mary’s Hall in Minnesota. In 1899, she married Samuel E. Robineau, a French gentleman and collector of Chinese ceramics. He was deeply intrigued by her talent and steadfastly supported and encouraged her throughout her career. The couple collaborated to produce a popular and influential monthly journal together, Keramic Studio, and went on to build a studio on their property in Syracuse, New York, which they named Four Winds. Robineau would also go on to teach for many years at Syracuse University while creating her own work and raising three children. Early in her career, she studied at Alfred University under Charles Binns, who is widely considered to be the progenitor of contemporary studio ceramics in America. His program established a shift in the craft of ceramics as an academic pursuit, rather than one of apprenticeship. Pottery throwers and the artists who decorated the wares traditionally inhabited separate roles in ceramic manufacture, a practice common in Europe. Binns’ philosophy merged the two, such that the potter had total agency of the final product. This marked a historic divergence in the creation of art pottery – one that Adelaide Robineau...

Wedgwood Lustre Vase by Daisy Makeig-Jones
Located in Toronto, CA
This is a stunning Wedgwood lustre vase, circa 1914, designed by Daisy Makeig-Jones. The flared form vase has an iridescent overglaze on a pale blue ground, and is decorated with intricately detailed, swirling dragons in gold on all four sides. The inside of the vase has a gilded border featuring Oriental scenes of pagodas and gardens, below which are four mythical birds which seem to float in magical suspension over the pale green glaze of the interior. Daisy Mekeig-Jones apprenticed at Wedgwood in 1909 and only two years later, by 1911, she had started to create her own designs at the factory. In 1913 she started designing the Oriental dragon patterns seen here, and by 1915 she had begun the Fairyland lustre ware for which she would become famous. These designs became incredibly popular and helped boost the company's success after the first world war. This beautiful vase, particularly with its fanciful bird-like creatures floating whimsically on the inside, feels like a true precursor to the Fairyland lustreware...
