Exceptional Louis XVI style gilt bronze and malachite grandfather clock French, late 19th century Measures: Height 250cm, width 54cm, depth 33cm This superb longcase clock is a wonderful example of the Belle Époque impetus to draw inspiration from the styles of the past. The clock, crafted during the late nineteenth century—though the malachite finish is later—is inspired by a famous eighteenth-century original. The clock is of traditional form, which a cubic clock case inset with an enamel dial and a gilt bronze bezel cast with signs of the zodiac. The central section of the clock includes a window, which reveals the pendulum inside, while the lower section is in the form of a plinth. The malachite veneer is wonderfully varied, with lighter and darker shades of the stone utilised to add visual interest. The clock is surmounted by a sculpture in gilt bronze of Apollo in his chariot, pulled by a quadriga of horses. The dial is signed for Rosel Bruxelles...

This is truly an unusual pair of lamps, with a black and turquoise blue salmon roe fish ground and an elaborate and unusual number of round cartouches, each with a different interior design. The cartouche roundels are hand-enameled and include peaches, flowers, Daoist symbols, and many more Chinese inspired designs. Each lamp is hand-enameled with a gorgeous array of details and sophistication. The vases are flanked with gilt elephant-ear handles and have their original lids, which were later converted to lamps to be used in any modern day setting. Stunning and extremely rare Chamberlains Worcester Cabinet or Wall Plate of Museum quality. Second quarter of the Nineteenth Century. The central rectangular reserve depicts a superb hand painted miniature of the English National Gallery in Trafalgar Square, London. This miniature is firmly attributed to be the work of painter Humphrey Chamberlain. Researched done by us shows no other similar has survived. This exquisite piece of rectangular outline with lavish gold scrolling detail and twin handles with similar detail. Height: (entire overall as shown in image one) 9.25” (23.5cm). Width: (entire) 13.25" (33.5cm). Condition: Superb condition with no losses to porcelain and no wear to gilding. Base marks in puce “The National Gallery” and “Chamberlains Worcester” In 1783, Robert Chamberlain (c.1736–98), head of the decorating department for Dr John Wall at Warmstry House, left the company to start his own porcelain decorating business in King Street, Worcester.
