It made me very happy to think that I had helped make your birthday an enjoyable one. Yes, I have had a number of letters, many of the writers finding that the book awakened happy childhood memories, even though their own lives had been very different from mine. Often - as in your case - a common bond had been our skymen. I remember Michael and Geraldine well. So if you do ever see them again, please give them my best wishes. Yours sincerely Christopher Milne"
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The "Harbour Bookshop" was the bookstore owned and run by Milne and his daughter Clare who was diagnosed with severe cerebral palsy.
Milne remained close to his Nanny all his life. This book "The Enchanted Places" is dedicated to her. Olive was born on 2/23/1895 and died in 1978. Milne's reply letter to Elizabeth is dated 2/28/75. It's interesting to think that Milne would have asked Olive, quite possibly on her 80th birthday, to sign a copy of this book that he was giving as a birthday present. Aldo van Eyck, Doyen of Dutch architecture, is one of the most significant architects of the 20th century. Aldo van Eyck, the "Grand Seigneur" of Dutch architecture is one of the most significant architects of this century. Presented is a photoplay first edition of London After Midnight by Marie Coolidge Rask. This printing was published by Grosset & Dunlap, in New York, in 1928. The book has been beautifully rebound in striking ¼ green leather and cloth boards, with raised bands and gilt stamps and tiles to the spine, and a matching green archival slipcase. The book is illustrated with eight stills from the original silent film.
One of the most collectible Grosset & Dunlap photoplay editions, this book was a novelization of the 1927 Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer mystery horror film of the same title, co-produced and directed by Tod Browning. The movie starred Lon Chaney in a dual role of Scotland Yard Inspector and vampire; this was his only movie role as a vampire. Due to the success of the film, Marie Coolidge Rask penned the novelization of the movie. Rask worked from Tod Browning’s screenplay as well as the original source material, Browning’s short story "The Hypnotist.” The book was published by Grosset & Dunlap in 1928 and included eight stills from the silent film.
The last known copy of the film was destroyed in the 1965 MGM vault fire, along with hundreds of other rare early films, making it one of the most sought-after “lost” silent films. Copies of the film have never surfaced. This 1928 book is therefore important and collectible, as it is one of the few remaining records of the film’s content and storyline.

Volume 1, Middle Ages to Rococo (1200 – 1750).
Volume 2, Rococo to Victorian (1750 – 1850).
Volume 3, Victorian to Modern (1850 – 1940).
Each volume contains approx. 285pp and 250 color illustrations. These volumes are an invaluable record of over 700 masterworks of textile design, housed in the Victoria and Albert Museum.
Volume I deals with the gold embroidery for which England was famous
in the middle ages, and which is magnificently represented in the Museum.
Some of the best examples were acquired in the early years at South
Kensington, in the 1860's, but important aquisitions continued in the late
19th and early 20th century and several notable purchases have been made
during the past 50 years.
This section is followed by sections on embroidery from the 16th century
to 1750.
The second volume of the series will deal mainly with woven and printed
textiles from the Rococo to the early Victorian period, 1750 to 1850.
The most significant acquisitions from this period have been made

half of the twentieth century, Frank Lloyd Wright created, during his long and prolific career, a unique body of work that endures to this day. Beginning in 1889 with the design for his own house in Oak Park, Illinois, and continuing with hundreds of designs for residential, commercial, ecclesiastical, educational and civic structures, Wright's varied architecture is unified only by the underlying organized principles of change and innovation.
