Technique: Hand-Woven
Contemporary Tropical Chair with Hand-Woven Seat and Back in Caribbean Walnut
Located in PARQUE INDUSTRIAL OTHON P BLANCO, Quintana Roo
The chair features a simple and lightweight structure. Its clean lines, with smooth, rounded edges, complement the meticulous handcrafted weaving. Made by a family of artisans from Bacalar, the weaving uses the "ojo de perdiz" technique with cotton or nylon thread. The design of this chair is inspired by the wicker rocking chairs and armchairs traditionally made in Yucatán. Today, this tradition is fading, along with the art of hand-weaving chairs. Therefore, the intention behind the Cocom Collection is to preserve and revive this legacy. The Cocom Collection merges tradition and modernity, elevating craftsmanship with exceptional attention to detail. It employs various endemic tropical wood from southern Mexico, giving each piece a vibrant tropical personality. The chairs, armchairs, and rockers are available in a variety of weaving colors. _ design: Ania Wolowska finish: wax weaving: cotton or nylon available in: Caribbean Walnut...

English Georgian Period Elm Ladderback Fireside Armchair with Rush Seat, c. 1800
Located in San Francisco, CA
An uncommon circa 1800 English Georgian period country ladderback fireside armchair in elm with woven rush seat. Delightfully proportioned, with the tall six-slat back “towering” over the extra-low seat, and the frame having a laid-back profile. Hand-crafted of solid elm, with nicely turned arms, legs, and stretcher. Stands on carved club feet in front and simple metal band-reinforced feet in back. Displays very handsome authentic antique character, color, and patina throughout. Natural woven rush seat is likely not original, though it does have some age to it, is period-appropriate, and complements the overall look. Designed to bring a hearthside sitter closer to the fire, with its seat also being at a perfect height for a child. Antique ladderback...

Rare 1930s French Wicker Rattan Emmanuelle Peacock Chair
Located in Birmingham, AL
A large, classic 1930s Peacock chair handcrafted in France of woven two-toned rattan and wicker. Having a flamboyant shaped high flaring back that resembles the fanned feathers of the bird after which it's named, this rare chair features large rolled arms and an hourglass shaped base. A stunning piece of furniture with a rich history, its design and craftsmanship reflect the elegance and sophistication of its era. Designed to make a statement both structurally and aesthetically, Peacock chairs are considered pieces of art as well as chairs. In fine original condition with a beautifully aged original rich surface color patina, this chair is part of a set that includes the chair and a very rare Peacock rocker, probably custom made in the South of France. Each piece is sold separately. The iconic Peacock chair has a fascinating history and cultural significance. Gaining popularity in the 1920s, it became a "must have piece" with everyone from government officials to celebrities. Its association with Hollywood and the entertainment industry further elevated its status, as seen in its prominent appearances in films and TV series. It's legendary portrayal of Morticia Addams' regal throne in The Addams Family and Sylvia Kristel's memorable scene in the French erotic...

Mid Victorian Side Chair Finely Hand Carved with Wool Work Seat, Circa 1850
Located in Lincoln, Lincolnshire
This is a very good quality example of an English occasional side chair in the Rococo style, from the mid Victorian period, circa 1850, made from Beech. The back is a Classic balloon back shape, but with intricate cut-out and carved detail to the frame and particularly to the cross splat. This carved detail is continued on the front legs and front stretcher. The foot of the legs are splayed slightly outwards which adds to the features of this chair. Twin side stretchers give additional strength to this chair but overall this is a delicately made chair. It has a good wool-work covered seat with a rose spray design. Please note: This chair is not a strong dining room chair and is not recommended for regular use as a chair to sit on. The chair is light and would make a very pretty bedroom or hall side chair, to be used principally for display either on its own or with say teddy bears displayed on it, or for draping light...
