Finn Juhl Japan Sofa by France & Son, All New Premium Upholstery

About the Item

"Japan" series sofa by Finn Juhl, designed in 1957 made by France & Son Denmark. The sublime simplicity of the "Japan" series is inspired by traditional Japanese construction techniques. The sturdy horizontal backrest, resting on the slightly tapered legs, is a reference to a Japanese temple door. Even with this simple construction, Finn Juhl remains true to his idea of emphasising the difference between the carried and the carrying elements by separating the back of the supporting frame with brass brackets. This sofa comes with a very good preserved teak wooden frame since it was standing at spare room for almost half a century. The upholstery is completely renewed, inclusive all new interiors, executed from an exclusive brand fabric. A wonderful coarse fabric of linen and wool in beige and off-white with a soft dash of green. We can send a fabric sample of the actual fabric if desired. The sofa retains it original 1960's manufacturers tag, see pictures. Given the sofa's age this original tag is truly a unique find. All quotes include custom crating & insurance.
