Rare Prototype Sofa by Peter Ghyczy for Herman Miller, 1960s

About the Item

Peter Ghyczy's exceptional 2-seater sofa from the 1970s is an incredibly rare and truly unique piece. It is also referred to as the "Fehlbaum sofa." Finding this particular sofa is rare due to its complex production method from the 1970s, which limited mass production. As a result, only a few of these sofas still exist today, making them highly sought-after collector's items. The sofa was designed by Peter Ghyczy, a renowned designer known for his space-age furniture, and he is also credited with developing polyurethane-based products. It has been produced by Herman Miller, the company behind this iconic sofa. The sofa's cushions have been reupholstered in a luxurious yellow-golden mohair fabric, chosen for both its rich texture and durability. The restoration was carried out by a skilled craftsman. The warm, golden hue of the mohair beautifully complements the sleek white shell, enhancing the sofa's visual appeal. Beyond its cool appearance, the sofa also offers comfort, making it as inviting as it is beautiful. Since the sofa is a 2-seater, it suits many kinds of projects, from residential to retail, up to a gallery. It suits many kinds of interior styles, going from vintage, mid-century, modern, contemporary, unique, design, artsy, funky, 70s, 60s, and curated. Sculptural Post-Modern Steel Sofa, France 1980s
Located in Aartselaar, BE
Very unique and unusual sofa. Inspired by the Maria Pergay, Michel Boyer era. Sourced in the south of France. Postmodernism. The bench is made of multiple materials, creating a beautiful composition. The base of the sofa is made of steel and has a beautifully patinated leather seat. The back of the sofa is made of resin. Due to the green strokes, it is multi-dimensional. Even if it's a functional sofa, it merely looks like a piece of art. It can both be used as a stand-alone sofa or bench and could be the perfect addition to any residential project, but would also look great in any gallery or high-end retail shop. The minimalist design of this French sofa is perfect for any clientele that wants to create a unique kind of atmosphere. It has a very industrial, apocalyptic, and postmodern feel to it. It is for sure an eye-catcher! Please note that it is a heavy object. Check out Daddy Deco...

Rare Sofa prototype by Marzio Cecchi Model Serpente with certificate
By Marzio Cecchi
Located in Milano, IT
Marzio Cecchi was an Italian designer of great talent and innovation who left an indelible mark on the world of design. He was an assiduous participant in the artistic and cultural movements of his time, and unfortunately died prematurely in a tragic car accident in New York. Prominent among his most iconic and futuristic achievements is the Serpente sofa prototype with certificate, a work of art consisting of several modules held together by a tube and totally swiveling. This sofa is extremely rare and has reached high quotations in the world's most important auction houses. We are dealing with a piece of exceptional importance, as it is a prototype that never entered the market and always belonged to the designer's family. The sofa is certified and documented and has a certain provenance. Moreover, it is in perfect original condition, never restored and carefully preserved in its original condition. A unique and extraordinary piece of historic Italian design of the 1900s, with great historical importance and with room for growth even at the investment level. The sofa is made of leather and consists of 6 modules for a total of 6 seats. It is a work of art of Italian...
