About the Item

An elegant wall-mounted cabinet in veneered walnut with a white lacquered front and an inset round mirror. Above the mirror there is a barometer, while below it there is a drawer with two shelves inside. The Tempus cabinet was designed by Ettore Sottsass for Poltronova. Ettore Sottsass (Innsbruck, 1917 – Milan, 2007) was an Italian architect and designer, known for his contribution to radical design and his influence on both Italian and global design. In 1981, he founded the Memphis Group, a collective of designers and architects who used asymmetry, vibrant colors, and unconventional materials, a group that stood out from the minimalist trends of the time. Throughout his career, Sottsass created iconic works, one example being the *Valentine* typewriter for Olivetti, a company with which he collaborated for over twenty years. His creations, with vibrant colors and bold shapes, often combine elements of Art Deco, modernism, and Italian craftsmanship, giving life to playful and sometimes whimsical pieces that challenge design conventions.
