Untitled, the Show Is over / Christopher Wool & Felix Gonzalez-Torres, 1993
By Christopher Wool
Located in London, GB
United Kingdom - Offset Lithograph on Paper, from the original show 1993 Christopher Wool’s paintings and prints explore the confluence of image, text, and pattern. They often feature enigmatic, confrontational found phrases or illegible scribbles, which are either stencilled or plastered in black across flat white fields. The artist occasionally covers the compositions with spray-paint marks and screen-printed elements (some taken from his previous works), erasing and relayering as he goes. His process—which focuses on the possibilities of reproduction, appropriation, and accretion—is as important as the results themselves. Wool studied at Sarah Lawrence College and the New York Studio School. New York’s vibrant 1970s downtown No Wave and punk scenes became major influences, and Wool reached his mature style in the mid-1980s. Wool has exhibited in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, London, Paris, Tokyo, Berlin, and beyond, and his work belongs in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, the Centre Pompidou, and the Tate. His work has achieved eight figures on the secondary market. Drawing from Minimalism and Conceptualism, Felix Gonzalez...

Phyllis Meyer Southwestern Zuni Tradition New Mexico Watercolor Painting
Located in Dayton, OH
"Vintage 1991 watercolor painting titled “Zuni Tradition” by Phyllis Meyer, painted in Taos, New Mexico, showing a young Native American girl and three women carrying vessels of water, all in traditional dress. “1931-2005 – A resident of Colorado Springs, who also spent the winter months in Mesa, Arizona, Phyllis Meyer was a noted plein air, impressionist landscape, and still life painter. Her landscapes are from frequent trips that she makes to New Mexico as well as Arizona and Colorado, and her subjects often include animals and farm scenes.” The Zuni are Native American Pueblo peoples native to the Zuni River valley. The Zuni are a Federally recognized tribe and most live in the Pueblo of Zuni on the Zuni River, a tributary of the Little Colorado River, in western New Mexico, United States. The Pueblo of Zuni is 55 km (34 mi) south of Gallup, New Mexico. The Zuni tribe lived in multi level adobe houses. In addition to the reservation, the tribe owns trust lands in Catron County, New Mexico, and Apache County, Arizona. The Zuni call their homeland Halona Idiwan’a or Middle Place. The word Zuni is believed to derive from the Western Keres language (Acoma) word s?^?ni, or a cognate thereof. Archaeology suggests that the Zuni have been farmers in the general area for 3,000 to 4,000 years. It is now thought that the Ancestral Zuni people have inhabited the Zuni River valley since the last millennium B.C, when they began using irrigation to farm maize on at least household-sized plots." Mixed-Media Abstract Oil on Canvas by Cuban Artist Antonio Dojer
Located in Pasadena, CA
An abstraction is a powerful tool that allows artists to question reality, challenge our understanding of the world, and expand our horizons beyond what we can see and touch. In this square format piece combining collage and painting, the artist - a romantic visual poet - is aware that all design is inspired by the Natural that gives life to thoughts in a way that is open to interpretation and subjective experience. Different shapes, round, cubic forms, line and strokes obtained by scratching, textures, words cut presented backward as a mystery that can be pierced. Through a process of cutting, layering, and highlighting, the artist imbues the materials and colors with deeper meaning. At the bottom, a grounded and strong base is strengthened by dark colors and the absence of forms and details. This technique of creating a sense of energy and motion within an otherwise static composition is fully mastered in this artwork. The composition's towering and upright shapes naturally guide the viewer's gaze upwards, creating a dynamic interplay between spiritual themes and verticality. Born in Havana in 1971, Antonio Dojer’s abstract work reflects the colorful culture, vibrant community, and often tumultuous social environment of his native Cuba. Yearning to create and express beyond the political rigidity of his country, Dojer went on to study at the San Alejandro School of Art in Spain...

Educated at the Accademia di Brera in Milan, he has since worked in both London and Paris. His art is influenced by Pop Art. Adami was born in Bologna. In 1945, at the age of ten, he began to study painting under the instruction of Felice Carena. He was accepted into the Brera Academy (Accademia di Brera) in 1951, and there studied as a draughtsman until 1954 in the studio of Achille Funi. In 1955 he went to Paris, where he met and was influenced by Roberto Matta and Wifredo Lam. His first solo exhibition came in 1959 in Milan. In his early career, Adami's works were expressionistic, but by the time of his second exhibition in 1964 at Kassel, he had developed a style of painting reminiscent of French Cloisonnism, featuring regions of flat color bordered by black lines. Unlike Gauguin, however, Adami's subjects were highly stylized and often presented in fragments, as seen in Telescoping Rooms (1965). In the 1970s, Adami began to address politics in his art, and incorporated subject matter such as modern European history, literature, philosophy, and mythology. In 1971, he and his brother Giancarlo created the film Vacances dans le désert. In 1974 he illustrated a Helmut Heissenbuttel poem, Occasional Poem No. 27. Ten Lessons on the Reich with ten original lithographs {Gallerie Maeght...

Large Modern Abstract Art Painting Signed Original Mark Dickson
By (after) Mark Rothko
Located in New York City, NY
This is an Original Mark Dickson painting and can be described as nothing short of a revelation in the realm of contemporary art. As one navigates through his vibrant interplay of colors—pinks, purples, blues, and greens—it becomes evident that his works are a bridge between abstract expression and a deep-seated Coloradan sensibility. From afar, the paintings resonate with the raw energy and abstract impulsiveness reminiscent of Adolph Gottlieb or Mark Rothko. However, upon closer introspection, Dickson's canvas unfolds a symphony, harmoniously blending his intuitive understanding of the Colorado landscapes with an almost Rothkoesque play of color and form. His artistry is a culmination of his academic sojourns, from the bustling art scene of Brooklyn's Pratt Institute to the scholarly corridors of the University of Denver. Yet, what stands out is his capability to transcend these teachings and manifest a unique narrative—one that reflects both the external world and the myriad landscapes of the human psyche. The choice of medium, notably pastel mixed with watercolors, oil washes, and graphite pencil, demonstrates a tactile indulgence in his craft. It's as if he's chiseling his memories, experiences, and observations of the Coloradan terrains and skies into each canvas. For the discerning eye, his works might also evoke the expansive color fields of Milton Avery. Yet, Dickson’s approach, particularly his relationship with color, is refreshingly instinctual, almost challenging the viewer to feel rather than dissect. In Mark Dickson's work, we're treated to an exhilarating dance of abstract brilliance juxtaposed with the tangible and intangible memories of Colorado's landscapes. In a sense, each painting becomes an invitation—to wander, to wonder, and to immerse in the art of profound introspection. The majority medium is pastel and a mixed media of watercolors, oil washes, and graphite pencil. Color is of primary importance to his work. His work shows the influence of artists Milton Avery(who used large areas of color) and Mark Rothko and Adolph Gottlieb (known for their work in the variations of color). Mark is fascinated with color and explores every aspect of its relationships. He feels his use of color is more intuitive versus analytical. Mark Dickson’s paintings, prints and monotypes are represented in private, corporate and public art collections nationally. Pratt Institute, Graduate School of Fine Arts, Brooklyn, New York, 1970 University of Denver, Graduate School of Art, MFA, Denver, Brooklyn, New York, 1973 Denver Art Museum, Colorado Annual, 1967 National Academy of Design, National Audubon Exhibition, New York Joslin Art Museum Exhibition of Colorado artists, Omaha, Nebraska Included in Outstanding and Noteworthy Americans, Bicentennial Edition, New York Chicago Botanical Garden, solo exhibition, North Brook Illinois Colorado Symphony Orchestra Association, limited-edition lithograph commission Broadway South West department store Commission; shopping bag and print.
