A pair of French painted wood armchairs from the 19th century, with carved foliage motifs, yellow, white and turquoise accents and new linen upholstery. Created in France during the dynamic 19th century, each of this pair of armchairs features a curving back topped with a carved flower flanked with palmettes on the upper rail. Two open arms with scrolling extremities carved with acanthus leaves and rosettes are coming to rest on each side of a seat newly upholstered with a neutral toned linen fabric. Each chair is accented with touches of yellow and white with a subtle hint of turquoise. The base is made of four legs, the front ones being tapered while the hind ones are saber. Italian, late 19th century.
An impressive and unique Neoclassical armchair, likely produced during the Grand Tour period in Italy. Featuring an impressive swirled top rail, scalloped butterfly effect to the upper splat adorned with paint painted and inlaid exotic foliage. The main back supports a finely detailed Grecian warrior against an ebony background. Sturdy walnut arms are supported by hand carved, gilded and ebonized figural lady sphinxes. A detachable seat with contemporary upholstery. Areas of black banding to accent the legs and feet. While we have been unable to determine a maker for this chair, the fine craftsmanship exudes importance.

Pair of fantastic Vienna Secession bentwood chairs with upholstery designed by Josef Hoffman (1870-1956) and manufactured by J. & J. Kohn circa early 20th century. These armchairs are model 725 B/F designed in 1905 and are dated from the original production in the Austrian workshop. Quite a rare original pair, they feature ebonized bentwood frame with corner ball enforcement details and wine-red leather upholstery accented conforming decorative round tacks along the edge. Both retain factory label remnants as well as manufacturer's name branded to the underside.
