Pair of Swedish Empire Armchairs in Black w/Gold Accents from the Mid-19th C.

About the Item

A pair of Swedish Empire armchairs from the mid-19th century by furniture maker F. Pettersson. These antique chairs from Sweden have an elegantly curved backs, with straight wooden top rails framing their upholstered backs which have an open area beneath with a pierced and gilt accent carving in wreath and bow motif. Wooden arms end into curled knuckles. A clean lined wooden skirting gives way at four corners to the sabre legs which raise these pieces. The seat and backs have been newly upholstered in a neutral Belgian linen, which pops nicely in contrast to the black colored wood and gilt accent.
