The drawing was done for Dorothy Lamour and is one of her earliest design sketches circa early 1940s. There are only a few known existing sketches actually drawn by Edith Head herself, and not by one of her sketch artists. The sketch for Lamour’s dress may have been done for the black and white period movie Dixie starring Bing Crosby and Dorothy Lamour. Unframed and in its original unaltered state.
