Refined, tall two-panel byôbu (folding screen) completely adorned with ‘Wajima Ryûsaku’ lacquer by the Nitten award winning artist Mitsuo Takana (1956).
Featuring five refined images inspired by woodblock prints from the famous series ‘Tôkaidô gojûsan tsugi’ (The fifty-three stations of the Tokaido road), like the 1st station Nihonbashi, the 10th station Hakone, and the 21st station Okabe.
The design is executed in hiramaki-e (low-relief lacquer design) in shades of gold, silver, heightened by some multi-coloured details. Set on a shiny black lacquer substrate.
Signed in red lacquer in the lower right corner.
Including original signed & sealed wooden tomobako (storage box). The front with an inscription about the contents as described above. The inside:

This is a very good Chinese Export, (Canton) large porcelain plate or dish, all hand painted with a light green celadon glaze, which we date to the early 19th century, circa 1820, of the Qing dynasty.
A feature of this plate is its size, having a large dinner plate diameter of nearly 10 inches, as the majority of plates of this type have a much smaller diameter .
The plate has a light green, Celadon ground glaze with beautifully hand painted decoration, in over-glaze poly-chrome enamels of the Famille-Rose palette, featuring a bird, butterflies, fruits and flowers.
The rim is hand painted in a café-au-lait light brown finish.
There is an under-glaze, cobalt blue square seal mark, hand painted to the base.

Rare pair of large Chinese carved stone foo dog guardian lions. Originated from a house of a mandarin (a public official in the Chinese Empire), located on The Silk Road.
Here they were placed in front of the gate, with the gate doors mounted on the base behind the lions.
The pair consist of a male with a ball on his back, and a female holding a puppy. The ball represents the world and the puppy represents nature or a nurturing spirit.
