Mid-Century Modern Vintage Kurdish Tulu with Dotted Polychrome Background
Located in Milan, IT
Tulu rugs represent one of the earliest forms of nomadic pile weaving, typically knotted with a medium-high pile as they were meant as bedding rugs for the tent. The patterns are quite simple, ranging from completely open fields to stacked niches, with basic geometric patterns such as the one here representing some interesting variants. Here the field is embellished by an infinite repeat dotted pattern, which gains momentum by virtue of the irregular colour variations of the background, creating a syncopated and colourful stripe...

By Deanna Comellini
Located in Bologna, IT
Fluid Onde color 34 "Fluid" by Deanna Comellini - art director of the Italian contemporary rug company G.T.DESIGN - is an innovative hand-tufted rug realized in a wool and nylon blend suitable for many environments, from residential developments, to commercial spaces to interior design projects for the hospitality industry. Fluid’s high performance yarn is woven with a handmade technique that allows to customize the textures with inlay designs, bouclé and cut pile finishes resulting in one-on-kind pieces. This form of craftsmanship is applied to design in relief patterns while keeping an elegant composition of the rug. In the model "Onde" and color 34, its esthetic and functional qualities make it a suitable complement for indoor areas such as living, dining and bedrooms. Its texture resembles the naturally fluid weave of the desert and beautifully matches materials such as marble and concrete, bringing a sculptural finishing to the architectural elements of the house. The Fluid collection features a vast range of personalization by client request, including oversize rugs, thickness variations, finishes and bespoke colors. Thanks to its revolutionary approach for large size rugs...

Antique Minimalist Jajim Flat-Woven Rug with Vertical Polychrome Stripes
Located in Milan, IT
A very graphic tribal Kilim composed of two joined panels each containing an array of polychrome vertical stripes of various widths. The result is a wool flat-weave with a mirror image pattern having a central stripe that is considerably wider than the others. What makes this example rather unique is the richness of the individual colors, obtained from natural dyes, as well the generous width of the vertical stripes. Furthermore, the quality of the individual dyes, which include a wonderful indigo blue and a clear coral red, are indicative of an early vintage. The resulting visual effect is highly abstract and reminiscent more of Western contemporary art...

Antique Indian Square Cotton Dhurrie with Geometric Border, Circa 1900
Located in Milan, IT
The weaving of flat-woven cotton carpets known as dhurries is cited in Mughal chronicles of the 15th century. Probably one of the earliest forms of floor covering, dhurries were woven in various formats according to their function, which range from bed covers to prayer mats. Most were produced in the northern region of Rajasthan, almost always in the local jails. These were often commissioned for specific areas of the Maharaja's palaces. This very unusual example has a perfectly square format, and was probably commissioned for a specific place of a palace. It's signed by the weaver (N.N. Shah) and it's distinguished for its unique cranberry red open field framed by a stunning geometric border with a pattern reminiscent of antique African textiles.
