Our Top 25 Instagram Posts of 2017

What better way to see what was really buzzing in the design world in 2017 than to look back on the year’s top posts on 1stdibs’ Instagram feed?

Naturally, we see green walls and millennial pink decor. Lacquered surfaces were also alluring, as were the creations of contemporary furniture and lighting designers.

Both clashing patterns and neutral palettes had their moments, but it was a calming home library setting that grabbed the gold.

You can find them in the apartment of fashion star Alexander Wang, designed by Ryan Korban. Interiors stars Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent selected one for their Manhattan penthouse, and they’re also in apartments conceived by Kelly Behun and Gachot Studios. They’re large-scale light fixtures with striking patinated finishes by the New York–based @apparatusstudio, and aesthetically minded individuals just can’t get enough of them. In founder Jeremy Anderson and Gabriel Hendifar's apartment, their Arrow ceiling fixture hangs in the living room, while another Synapse pendant illuminates the dining table beyond. Brooklyn-based architectural metalworker Gabrielle Shelton [@sheltonstudiosinc] recently created an arching, steel-framed wall of glass with a door cut in one side for the Manhattan loft of actors Liev Schreiber and Naomi Watts. New York–based firm @ashe_leandro oversaw the redesign of the apartment, whose entry and stair hall feature a Ralph Lauren Home pendant light and a Harland Miller painting beyond the Shelton wall.
