JULIA MARGARET CAMERON (INDIA, 1815–79)

Julia Margaret Cameron was a British photographer considered one of the most significant portraitists of the 19th century. She was born on June 11, 1815, in Kolkata, India. She is known for her imaginative pictorialist images depicting characters from mythology and literature as well as soft-focus close-ups of famous Victorians. Cameron died on January 26, 1879, in Kalutara, Sri Lanka.
