About the Item

This magnificent A/W 1976 Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche peacock blue wool cape excites drama and style and can be worn two ways, varying the impact of the piece. The 100% soft wool felt is artfully fashioned to create a double tier tunic cape folding over the shoulders in a highwayman style and secured on each side of the shoulder with a button fastening. When worn unfastened, the fabric cascades to a point down the centre of the piece allowing a greater fluidity of movement. There are 5 x large blue round buttons to close the front of the cape and button fastenings on either side, securing the fabric level with the waistline to create wide loose fitting arm holes. The cape is mid-length with the fabric gently rounded off at the hem and together with the collar, is trimmed with black wool braid. One for the collector of fine vintage; the cape is in a rare colourway and from an outstanding collection which changed the course of fashion history. In impeccable vintage condition with a tiny moth graze hidden under the capelet so not even noticeable. The sizing label is no longer present but this is almost free size and would fit anywhere from a US 4-12, UK 8-16. MEASUREMENTS: FRONT LENGTH - 40" (101cms) BACK LENGTH - 44.5" (113.3cms) DIAMETER - 72" (182.88 cms)
